Spoilers Spider-man 3(take 2) Anticipation thread

It would never work because we’ve had too many bald-faced lies denials from people who did end up on those projects. Maybe they could get dozens of various actors to “leak” photos of them wearing production caps so no one knows for sure.

If that's actually the case, the smartest thing Marvel could do right now would be to have the three actors do a YouTube video or something - maybe Facetime from different locations - and say "Okay, we know you really wanted to see all three of us together, here we are. But - and we're sorry to disappoint you - that's all you're getting as far as this movie. We're glad you're this dedicated and excited, but please please please - dial down your expectations, just this once. We promise we'll make it up to you somewhere down the road. In the meantime, if you go in open-minded and give it a chance, we think you'll really like what we do have planned for this."

Yeah, I'd hope that they would do something like that if the rumors weren't true. The only reason I'd even consider watching the film was if Toby is in it, but to be fair there is no way they're bringing back Molina (and quite possibly Defoe) without Toby, so I think I'll be fine. Garfield I don't care about either way, but it would be weird to apparently bring in the Amazing Spider-Man version of Electro but not bring in Garfield.

EW.com has posted an interview with Tom Holland, where he says that this will be the end of the "Homecoming trilogy":
"We were all treating [No Way Home] as the end of a franchise, let's say," he adds. "I think if we were lucky enough to dive into these characters again, you'd be seeing a very different version. It would no longer be the Homecoming trilogy. We would give it some time and try to build something different and tonally change the films. Whether that happens or not, I don't know. But we were definitely treating [No Way Home] like it was coming to an end, and it felt like it."
I'd pretty much gotten that impression from the moment they started talking about No Way Home, so I'm not surprised.

This is nothing new really. Thematically, this is the general idea that they've been striving towards since the beginning and I'm thrilled that it's ending on a note that they want while leaving the door open for a new avenue of storytelling with Holland's Peter (college and beyond). Holland has already expressed interesting of playing Spider-Man for as long as Marvel will let him and hopefully Marvel (and more importantly, Sony) has the sense to keep using him instead of rebooting the role yet again. Especially since so many people love his interpretation and it would be really great to watch him to continue to grow into the role for years to come.

Honestly, that's basic 'hype something as a possible end to make more people interested'. Which really isn't necessary for a MCU movie. People will watch.
They're going to salary negotiations. If they make a deal, we'll get more Tom Holland Spider-Man. If not, different take. It's as simple as that.

You know, it's funny, you make a good point about not needing to hype a Marvel movie.
I wonder if they can get away with slashing their advertising budget for a movie like this and not notice a difference. I mean. For a Spider-Man movie like this... do we need anything more than the trailers we have to get us to watch?

That didn't work well for Solo, did it? And, yes, I know that there were multiple reasons for that movie's failure. The fact that I know people who weren't even aware that a new Star Wars movie had been released certainly has to be one of them.

So I just watched Venom 2. Is that mid credit sequence a hint that Venom is also going to be in it?

^ That's the logical assumption that most fans have come to, but there has yet to be an official announcement on the subject.

There are certainly storylines that happened to Peter in his 20s that will fit a more mature Peter after a timejump/hiatus.

The next movie takes place immediately after Far From Home. The time jump will happen naturally by just setting the fourth film however many years after Endgame it is.

Sony has to release these movies every few years for the rights to stick. And currently they've been very insistent on releasing one every other year, so that wouldn't be much of a time jump.

It would be a four year time jump, which would put Peter in college, possibly even studying for his Masters or PhD. Maybe with Dr. Connors.
