Spell my name correctly, dammit!

RoJoHen

Awesome
Admiral
Some of my co-workers refuse to spell my name correctly. There are two common spellings of my first name; they always choose the wrong one. I have even called them out on it before, and they still mess it up. Even when I sign the bottom of my emails with my properly-spelled name, they mess it up.

Bah!

[/rant]

It'd help to know what your first name is in order to facilitate if their mis-spelling might be due to them going with a more common one.

People often spell my name Rahkee instead of Rakhee. It's the one misspelling that bothers me.

Eh, I'd say that's sort-of forgivable as I'd argue "Rodger" is more common. (It's the spelling I've probably most often encountered.)

Anyway, shouldn't bother you too much it's sort of a minor thing.

It bothers me because I've told them multiple times that it's wrong and they keep doing it.

Anyway, this is just a rant. I'm not actually that upset. I'm just, ya know, ranting.

Gee Rog, that puts you in the same boat as...

KAAAAHHHHNNNN...

er, I mean

KHAAAAANNNNNN...

on these here very boards. ;)

Seriously though, Roger is a pretty difficult name to screw up. Not as difficult as Bill, but none-the-less. :wtf:

Eh, I doubt they're doing it on purpose and it's likely some-form-of habit.

And, Kestra, I've seen "Rodger" more but "Roger" for me is hardly unique either.

My name is Matthew, my sister, Rachael. We get 'Mathew' and 'Rachel' at times, naturally. Most people who hear my name actually ask upfront, since both variants seem pretty common. :) My sister hates it when her 'a' is misplaced, though.

I have a similar problem.

Pretty much every coworker I've ever had has called me "Johnathan" at one point or another assuming it was my full name.

When I would insist it wasn't, they would say something like "now you're lying because you're embarrassed" or whatever. I even had one person tell me that "People aren't named just 'John.'" :wtf:

I see Rodger used in last names (i.e. Rodgers) far more often than I see it as a first name. Roger's usually the one I see more often as a first name.

I have a friend Joe who isn't Joseph.
I have a friend Katie who isn't Katherine.

I'm sure people are just named John.

Tons of people are named just John. John and Jonathan (I hate it when people spell it 'Johnathan' :ouch:) are different names, albeit with similar meanings and etymologies.

I hve never seen Rodger as a first name, I have known plenty of Rogers.

I get annoyed when my surname (Holmes) is mis-spelt. You think with Sherlock Holmes being one of the great literary figures people would be able to spell this surname. But I have often have had people spell it Homes.

edited to add - Now that I have admitted my surname I would like to add that for years (when I was a child) my father's best friend was named Tas Watson. People used to have a laugh when Holmes and Watson walked into the pub.

I'm sure people are just named John.
I know more men who are just John, than men who ar Jonathons.

There are at least 10 ways to spell Mary Ann, and no one ever spells it correctly the first time. I appreciate when people ask me how to spell it.

My maiden name has a silent letter, so spelling it properly the first time never, ever happens. It's also never pronounced properly. When I married I took my husband's name mainly because it's a common name which is simple to pronounce and spell.
