Spell my name correctly, dammit!

Some of my co-workers refuse to spell my name correctly. There are two common spellings of my first name; they always choose the wrong one. I have even called them out on it before, and they still mess it up. Even when I sign the bottom of my emails with my properly-spelled name, they mess it up.

Bah!

[/rant]
My co-workers keep writing DICK on all my stuff and I politely remind them my name is Richard. :vulcan:

I've never seen the spelling Rodger.
The only time I've ever seen it is when people are misspelling my name. I've never actually seen it as another person's name.
Really? The main ship in Starship Troopers (book and movie) is named "Rodger Young", after an American WWII infantryman. It's kinda funny though, because most people misspell his name (& the ship's name) as "Roger Young".

I was talking to a lady at the bus-stop once and during the conversation I learnt that her son's name was John Smith. In this day and age why would anyone with the very common name of Smith give their son their so such a common boys name?

Oh yes! I've heard nothing brings down the wrath of people from Arkansas like pronouncing it Ar-Kansas...

Are-kan-saw, am I correct?
Just remember Ray Charles' classic "What'd I Say":

Tell your momma, tell your pa
I'm gonna send you back to Arkansas.

It rhymes. :)

OK people, tfour placenames in Tasmania, how would you pronounce them?

Sorell
Launceston
Rokeby
Glenorchy

For what it's worth I sympathize completely. For years, my own brother would write on birthday and Christmas cards, "To Randi".

Do I look like a woman to you???:wtf:

The only common name used in Australia that can by shortened to Randy is Randall and no Randall I have ever meet wants his name shortened because of the British/Australian slang meaning of randy.

Never met a girl call Randi.

Well, I've been to Launceston, so that's kind of a cheat. I don't know the others.

People spell my name incorrectly all the time. And when they see my name written, they sometimes mispronounce it (although that's less common now than when I was younger).

My name is Trudy (and it's not short for anything - that's my actual name). People are often misspelling my name as Trudi, which sounds like it ought to be some bimbo cheerleader's name.

Once, I ordered something online, providing my correct name and other info. The package arrived at work, just as it should, but it was addressed to "Gertrude".

(I love my name, though. It means "spear maiden". I just don't like the misspelling I get sometimes.)

I have a very Finnish name and I've lived in the Netherlands and Germany. No-one gets my name right.

I can't tell you how many times I've ended up with a nametag that says "BRAIN" on it. It's not like "Brian" is hard to spell. :p

Ehh, I get that from time-to-time and chalk it up as being nothing more than a simple typo. More often I get the "Y" or "I" thing, I spell mine with an 'I", by the way. :)

My father's name is 'Gray'. He has terrible handwriting. He filled out a mail-in sunscription card one time and got a reply that started, "Dear Farz"
