Speculation on other Starships we might encounter?

AaronMorse

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
Or even other Walker Class Starships.. any thoughts?
We know there's at least a couple canon or semi canon Starships around the same NCC numbers as the Shenzhou (NCC-1227)

USS Valiant NCC-1223 (Going by one of the earlier ST Encyclopedias entrys)
USS Yamato NCC-1305 (If Donald Varley's USS Yamato was NCC-1305-E... stands to reason)
USS Republic NCC-1371 (Traditionally assumed to be a Constitution Class..but one never knows)

30! Holy Moses! Wonder how many will be StarFleet ships....
So far it's 6 Klingon and 3 Federation. There is a rumor that at least one other ship class makes an appearance in the pilot.

I know someone who has seen all the ships...I'm told lots of the Federation ships look like variations of the Europa.

Europa looked...interesting.. but far too divergent from what I would expect from a Pre TOS Starship.. then again they all seem rather different from what I would have gone with. but as JT once said "Come, come, Mr. Scott. Young minds, fresh ideas. Be tolerant."

It's funny how designs change and grow on you. I remember seeing the excelsior for the first time in the theatre and thinking... "what the hell is that piece of crap?"...fast forward a bunch of years to DS9 and seeing the USS Hood (Excelsior Class) Kicking the crap out of Cardassian OWPs and thinking "My God! That's one kick ass ship!" Don't mind me Serveaux.. I'll be fine with the JJprise in another... mmm... 10 years? :)

^ I'm not saying he's lying. Not as such. I realize that "Walker" is a very common name, but I can't shake the feeling that the TWD reference was simply too tempting to ignore, and that the 'real' Walker reference just turned up after the fact.

(At the very least, he had to have realized that a lot of fans would suspect a TWD reference anyway...)

Has Eaves gone on record as to where he got the name?

^ OK, I'll accept that. But still...there had to have been a fair amount of snickering going on after he came up with it. ;)

I dunno. *I* actually thought the Excelsior was more beautiful than the Connie right away. But the JJPrise took time for me to appreciate, and still looks a little off to me from some angles.
I wouldn't be surprised if he named the ship before she was cast.
Maybe it was the other way around? Maybe the class name inspired where they looked for their lead actors?
