What an awful trailer on the Fathom Events site. I don't mind the use of clips from "Silence in the Library," "The Time of the Doctor," and "The Impossible Astronaut," but someone really needs to lay off the Inception BRAAAAPPPPPP!

Whether or not I see this on the big screen will depend on whether or not another theater locally (to me) shows it. I'm not a fan of the one that's booked it.

Considering the last two times they've done this, Belgium didn't have any showings, I don't them to this time around. Whatever.

Too, too many people have jumped on the bandwagon with that Inception sound effect..

I'm sick of it too.

BTW what is River wearing looks like a Dalek corset haha

I'm hoping we get some great poignant character moments between River Song and the Doctor. I feel that with River recently losing her parents and the Doctor recently losing Clara, that is a recipe for some great emotional dialogue between them. And both actors are quite capable of pulling it off.

And indeed that the past events are not just glossed over for this "comedy romp"

"The Husband of River Song"

The doctor who facebook page has the title as "the husbands of River Song". The word "husband is plural. It could just be a typo. If it is not a typo, it means that River remarries and the christmas special has River and her new husband meeting the Doctor, her other husband?

Interestingly, the River Song audio series coming from Big Finish in January features another husband of hers played by Samuel West.

Honestly, I would have preferred for it to be earlier in her timeline. I think it would be funnier if this were clearly her first time encountering any Doctor besides Matt Smith. Like, say, putting this episode after "The Wedding of River Song" but before "A Good Man Goes to War."

I'm trying to think of a reason why that exact moment in River's timeline. (Speaking of Moffat's decision to set this immediately after "Angels Take Manhattan," that is.)

IIRC the official sequence of River's timelines places 'Angels Take Manhattan' right before the Doctor's last night with her before she goes to the Library, so this actually makes the most sense and is probably the least problematic place for *any* further adventures with River.

IIRC, there's nothing to state that "The Angels Take Manhattan" takes place immediately before "Last Night." It is certainly her last full adventure that we've seen prior to "Silence in the Library" but there could easily have been more adventures with her & the Doctor that we haven't seen between those 2 episodes.

(Also, I'm of the opinion that "Last Night" isn't her last night with the Doctor before the Library. Sure, the Doctor seemed to think it was at the time and they did talk about going to the singing towers. But how many times has the TARDIS not gotten them where the Doctor said they were going?)

The Doctor and River most likely have some sort of polyamorous relationship. I'm absolutely convinced that the eleventh Doctor and Clara were time travelers with benefits by "Day of the Doctor" at the latest, and River's made it clear at times that she fancies men besides the Doctor. They're adults, they can work out their boundaries and guidelines.

Or, maybe the other husband in the story turns out to be the eleventh Doctor and Christmas is a previously unannounced multi-Doctor story. :)

Their early scenes in "Day of the Doctor" are coded in the wink-wink-nudge-nudge way that films of the 1940s and 1950s were. On November 23, 2013, I watched that and went, "Yeah, they're doing it. They're so doing it."

And then there's the whole nude thing in "Time of the Doctor" where they're maybe a little too comfortable with it.

Had Matt Smith done Series 8, I've heard that Moffat intended to take their relationship into boyfriend/girlfriend territory.

HOLY COW!!!!!

I had only read fan fiction that icky.... with 11 boning Amy Pond on the console

Ah so the Doctor's back to using a screwdriver? A shame, I think I'm the only one who likes the sunglasses.

How is that "yuck"? Sure, there's an age gap of a couple hundred years, but they're both consenting adults, what they do together is their business.

Honestly, I never got the impression they were actually sleeping together, but the Eleventh Doctor and Clara were definitely "more than friends." Had Matt Smith stayed for season 8 it would be interesting to see if they would develop a relationship, or perhaps if Clara did end up with Danny anyway, would the Eleventh Doctor's attitude towards Danny be one of jealousy instead? Actually, even with Capaldi there, jealousy would have been an interesting storyline to pursue, at least more interesting that the Twelfth Doctor having an irrational hatred of soldiers and is an ass towards Danny because of it.

Because in the classic series this was clearly a line that they never wanted to approach, or even tip toe next to.. I don't find it a problem but I do find it yuck because that's not what the Doctor is supposed to be like in my humble opinion. He'd be far above fleshly pleasures, especially with humans...

Just my 2cents worth plus inflation.

Didn't he and Queen Liz I have sex? And I assume he and his wives did as well. He has a granddaughter

I think you're reaching there. While Eleven and Clara were definitely *both* into each other (confirmed on her part in the He Said/She Said mini-episode and on his part in the last few seconds of Nightmare in Silver, plus all the touchy-feely-kissy moments between them), I never got the impression they actually got "together." The naked thing in Time of the Doctor wasn't portrayed as comfortable at all, at was more like "Eww Doctor, you're naked!" If she had seen it all before, she wouldn't have turned away until he "got dressed."

If Matt Smith had stayed, then yeah...I think it probably would've been even more strongly implied in Series 8 that Clara was in love with him and Eleven would've just gone with it.

He's not above flirting with River, flirting with Tasha Lem, or thinking about Clara's dresses being "a little bit too tight." Sure he caught himself after that reverie and looked appalled that he had the thought, but he had the thought. And honestly, who could blame him?:p

I'll give you that. He did make that comment about Clara's tight skirt at the end of that adventure.. hmmm maybe that's why some fans called 11 the pervy one.
