Soundtrack question

I love the incidental music throughout the series. Of course they recycled much of it from season to season but it was good. Anyone know of a CD that is available that contains the best of this?
I looked at Amazon and they have some stuff but it seems to be for specific episodes. Was there more than one composer? Maybe that explains the by episode CDs?
Thanks

There's a whole section of Jeff Bond's book The Music of Star Trek devoted to this.

The Music of Star Trek book

There were quite a few composers, including Alexander Courage, Fred Steiner, and Sol Kaplan. Scores were written for many individual episodes, and then cues from those scores were often re-used or re-recorded at different tempos and lengths to be "tracked" onto episodes where an original score wouldn't be written (union rules being different then).

Varese Sarabende records released two gorgeously recorded and extremely faithful CDs some years back with the original arrangements...cues for Mudd's Women, Charlie X, and several others.

Plus a lovely stereo version of the Courage theme. Never saw a volume 3 and I don't know the availability of these discs these days.

I wish those ww2 sounding battle cues from ELAAN OF TROYIUS were available. Along with Kaplan's DOOMSDAY MACHINE stuff, the Elaan cues are some of my faves, though I don't remember who scored the episode.

Google: IMDB Elaan of Troyius

And click on MORE at the bottom of the cast.

Seriously, it's more keystrokes to write the message saying that you don't know than to use a search engine to find the answer.

That wasn't the focus of the post, the focus was that it wasn't released. I just spent time looking under your post to see if there was a link to a cd I hadn't heard of. Now that was a waste of keystrokes.
