What we’re discussing here is the phenomenon known as an “earworm” -- a piece of music that plays over and over in your head, sometimes for days on end.
I don’t have just one or two earworms -- I have a veritable playlist of them. Songs that get stuck in my head on a regular basis include “That Thing You Do,” Carole King’s “It‘s Too Late,” Abba’s “Dancing Queen,” Olivia Newton-John’s “Magic,” and a lot of early Beatles and Beach Boys stuff. Also Broadway compositions like Leonard Bernstein’s Candide overture and Richard Rodgers’ Carousel Waltz.
At least my earworms are pretty.
