Oh Lord Yes. I love Craig Ferguson, and I love Doctor Who, and I Loved when the two combined to produce this:

but now that the song has words, as it were, I can't get the damn thing out of my head!

I've had this particular song stuck in my head for a while. It's very catchy.

What we’re discussing here is the phenomenon known as an “earworm” -- a piece of music that plays over and over in your head, sometimes for days on end.

I don’t have just one or two earworms -- I have a veritable playlist of them. Songs that get stuck in my head on a regular basis include “That Thing You Do,” Carole King’s “It‘s Too Late,” Abba’s “Dancing Queen,” Olivia Newton-John’s “Magic,” and a lot of early Beatles and Beach Boys stuff. Also Broadway compositions like Leonard Bernstein’s Candide overture and Richard Rodgers’ Carousel Waltz.

At least my earworms are pretty.

Funnily enough, I've got the works of DJ Earworm stuck in my head... including his latest USoP 2010.

This one was stuck in my head all day yesterday:

^ So *that's* how that song really goes...

I only know the Buckwheat version. :D

I prefer Dave Barry's term for it: Brain Sludge.

What's worse for me about "16 Tons" is not only because it's stuck in my head, and I love the song, but I can actually SING it as well. That's worse than just having the song playing in your mind. Being compelled to actually sing it out loud is like a virus!

I've had The Pina Colada Song stuck in my head for a few days, and I have no idea why. My subconscious must have been pondering the wonders of ultimate 70s kitch.

The worst earworm I've ever had was The Pretender's Brass in Pocket when it first came out in about 1980. I had it in my head for over a week, and I didn't even like the song that much.

It's been this for a me since a few days. My brain hurtz.

So . . . did you ever figure out what a pompatus is?

I like that song, actually. Of course, like a lot of rock-era music, it helps to have the printed lyrics. "Great song, Chrissie, but what the hell are you singing? Gonna use my sexy? Gonna use my sensei?"

All day today, for no apparent reason, it's been the theme to Goldfinger. It just keeps popping into my head.

My mother mentioned this particular song to me only the other day after she heard it on the radio. Now I can't stop thinking about it and it's stuck in my head, and will likely continue to do so for the rest of my days and beyond...
