Something they could've done in First Contact

Since it was, IIRC, established that the Companion rejuvenated Cochrane to his youthful vitality, that shouldn't really be a surprise. Cochrane in ST:FC was an old drunk; plenty of time for him to meet the Companion and become young again.

The problem with that is that James Cromwell's Cochrane in FC actually isn't all that much older than the age Glenn Corbett was supposed to be in "Metamorphosis."

Why would they or any professional, cast a look-a-like for Corbett in the first place? Tom Hanks was the original choice for the role.

If they really wanted an actor that looked like a young Glenn Corbett, they would have found one. After all, they found younger doppelgangers for the TOS crew in Star Trek '09, didn't they?

But I'm sure they cared less about trying to find a duplicate Corbett.

I've been wondering who got the dirty look when they suggested they get Glenn Corbett to reprise the role, only to be told he had been dead for some years by then.

I doubt that they would have considered Corbett for the role even if he was still alive, since his age in FC was supposed to be around the same age he was in "Metamorphosis."

IMHO, Cromwell was too old for the role.

As far as I'm concerned, Through a Mirror Darkly did a good job with First Contact in their opening scene.

It was bad enough they used the line, "You're astronauts, on some kind of star trek."

Actually... that's the best line in the show.

That's what I was going to say.

Plus Magic Carpet Ride, I hate that TNG acts like the only music that exists is only from the 18th century.

...and only from the Western European region of Earth.

Though there was Riker's Jazz, too.

In the scene where Sarek cried they used Brahms sextet with only four instruments. I was really impressed.

Good catch, Kor. You're right, there's no African or Asian music really.

I know I've complained about this before, but for a future "Earth" there seems to be no Chinese and Indian people apparent even though those two groups make up about a 3rd of the current Earth population.

^ That may not be too far off, really. The Eastern Coalition was centered around China, after all (indeed, all references to the ECON were supposed to be China, but they changed the dialogue at the last minute). Assuming the ECON suffered massive retaliation against them during WW3, that could explain things a bit...

There may have even been some lingering animosity due to the Eugenics War. Khan won respect from future-folk, but at the time he may have been seen as a demon-despot, and he was supposed to be the nice one.
