Something at Comic-Con - This rocks

Re: Nothing at Comic-Con - This sucks

Nothing has changed much - Paramount still has no plans for a Trek presentation at Comic-Con. So why has the thread title been changed?

When the facts have changed it's important to get people accurate information as quickly as possible. From your linked page:
That being said, Paramount will have a booth and there will be some Star Trek ‘presence’ at the booth.
So, there will be something at Comic Con involving Star Trek.

A lot of people look at a thread's title, the first post, and nothing else. So you get something like this, and then a bunch of off topic stuff. (I'm not picking on you Hunter, it's just an example. I've done the same thing in the past.) You're thread title was no longer accurate and since this thread isn't a joke/sombrero thread but actually reporting news on the film it should be treated a little more seriously. Well, as serious as anything in this forum gets.

Re: Nothing at Comic-Con - This sucks

There's still no "Star Trek" presentation scheduled for Comic-Con - that hasn't changed. There was just a general statement by a Paramount marketer a day later that there would be some "presence" - and no announcement or even strong rumor of any specific Trek stuff at all.

Well, it wasn't bad, just average. I guess I expected a bit more, but nearly all the good stuff was in the previews.

A Paramount rep will be there to hand out free bottles of water. You know, to help Trek fans wash down all the bitter pills.

Wouldn't that be awesome if the water bottles had a pic of the new Enterprise on the side with Star Trek May 2009 underneath. Then let that be the extent of their promotion at Comic-Con.

Wouldn't a better approach to this whole changed title and first message issue be to simply start a new topic saying the exact opposite of what Dennis said? We have all these XI nonsense threads about sombreros and Gary Mitchell and Gary Mitchell's sombrero, I think we can stand a couple threads about Comic-con and then shut down the one that's wrong as soon as we know more.

Right now we have speculation about a Paramount presentation versus documented statements from Paramount saying they won't be there. The way this thread has been handled results in a lot of confusion. By changing the first message, the subsequent posts don't make any sense until July 8th. Shall we revise those posts as well?
