Some Trek fans are [Possible SPOILERS]d about the Secrecy

Re: Some Trek fans are pissed off about the Secrecy

Seal yourself in an accident-proof shack, like the end of the first Final Destination film. And... wait. Come out one year from today and head for the cinema!!!
I built myself a virtual presence device and use that to interact with the world while I remain safely locked away in my bedroom. :shifty:

Re: Some Trek fans are pissed off about the Secrecy

I think we have plenty of Spoilers so far, what's the point of knowing everything before you see it?

Funny thing about spoilers, some Spoilers ruin plot twists. And it's amazing how some Spoiler-Junkies will sit there and say "Oh, the plot twists were so obvious, you see them coming from a mile away". Of course you see them coming a mile away, you have half the script worth of spoilers.

I like spoilers for little things, but, I'm glad when JJ and Nolan and others keep things locked up tight. I too remember back before the internet and I rarely even knew a movie was coming out until I saw trailers.

Re: Some Trek fans are pissed off about the Secrecy

I just hope I don't die or go blind in an accident before the movie comes out.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has those thoughts cross his mind. When the movie finally comes out, I'll be sitting in the theater, the lights go down, the feature starts, and I think, "Made it!"

Let's all just be VERY careful.

Re: Some Trek fans are pissed off about the Secrecy

I don’t mind the secrecy...

...it best to get the surprise when you are watching the film in cinema.
Then why not set a good example of consideration for others by refraining from putting untagged "Avengers" spoilers in your posts?

For that matter, this thread isn't marked as having spoilers yet the very first post contains several.

Thank you for that.

I'll do something about the thread title, just in case.

You can use the 'Spoiler' button at above right (

HTML:

spoiler information here, where it will be hidden[/SPOILER]

which will produce this result:

Personally, I'm completely sealed in bubble wrap, eating Space Food sticks and Tang through a small opening. Now if I can just figure out how to go to the bathroom in this thing...:p

About 10-15 years ago, it seemed like the studios were happy to leak bits and pieces to Internet fan forums. I recall The Fellowship of the Rings had a steady stream of tidbits coming out leading up to the official trailers etc.

However, in those days what was on the Internet stayed on the Internet. Now with twitter/facebook/etc any information would just be picked up by social networking and everyone would be aware of it. So no more leaks.

i've never thought about the blind thing but the dying thing? Yeah, I worry about that. I was really worried that I'd die before I saw the final season of Lost.

LOTR was an unusual case. Pretty much the entire plot had already been "leaked" since the 1950s.

:( I'll never forget a man in Vancouver who was dying of aids and had decided to kill himself. There was a story on the news about it because assisted suicide was a big issue at the time. He said his only regret in dying over the summer was that he wasn't going to see the second half of The Best of Both Worlds. I've always hoped that someone on the show heard about it smuggled him a script.

A big difference: the characters and events of "The Fellowship of the Ring" - and its two sequels - were already well known. Even the ending!

A better example would be "Star Trek: Nemesis". Several draft scripts - and the entire final shooting script - pirated and uploaded to the Internet, and debated/critiqued for many months before the lacklustre, anticlimactic premiere night.
