3) Is Smokey connected Jacob or MIB?
Smokey
is MIB. At least, that's what's implied by this season's events.
Think about it. Locke is never around when Smokey is. Sun and Lapidus return to the main island, hear the Smoke Monster noise in the woods, then all of a sudden meet Christian. Christian/Smokey tells them, "Wait here for John Locke." Then he leaves, Fake Locke appears with the Ajira survivors, waits for Ben to wake up, then the two return to the main island. They meet up with Sun and Lapidus, and Ben tries to summon Smokey. Then when Ben hears a rustling in the trees and thinks Smokey is coming, John pops out. Smokey never comes, because Smokey has been there the whole time, as Locke.
Then Locke floors Ben with, "That's okay, I know where it lives." Even Ben didn't know that. When asked how John could know this, his answer is, "I just know."
If that's not enough evidence for you, when they go looking for Smokey, Ben falls through the floor into a hidden chamber. Locke tells Ben, "Hold on a sec, I'll be right back." A moment after disappearing, Smokey appears, judges Ben, then appears as his daughter, telling him to do everything Locke tells him or he'll be destroyed." Smokey disappears, and John reappears by amazing coincidence only a moment later.
Speaking of the episode in which Ben is judged ("Dead is Dead," I think) having just rewatched it, I think I've picked up on something I couldn't have noticed before knowing that John wasn't John. It's right after Ben asked John how he could possibly know where the Smoke Monster lives. John turns to him and says (I'm quoting from memory here), "You hate this, don't you? Having to ask questions you don't know the answers to. Blindly following someone in the hopes that they'll lead you where you want to go." Ben says, "You're right, I don't like it one bit." And fake Locke answers with, "Now you know what it was like to be me." Obviously we could apply that to the real Locke, but what if Fake Locke was being sincere at that moment? What if we was referring to himself and Jacob and the rest of his backstory that has yet to be revealed? When I saw that exchange for the second time, knowing John wasn't really John, that conversation really caught my attention. In fact, the whole episode kinda reads differently after you've seen the finale.
Another question...what happened to the statue & when?
They said in the re-run that Ben was telling the truth when he said that the statue was already destroyed when he arrived in 1973. So the "incident" didn't destroy it...what did? And when?
All we know right now is that it was still intact when the Black Rock arrived. We can surmise is was already in ruins in the 1950s, since none of our guys saw it when they were in that time period.
