Spoilers Some Details about Burnham

Telling you, I wouldn't be surprised if she was Amanda's daughter from a previous marriage.
This is the only good suggestion I've seen yet. A simple plausible explanation that fits in with established history. Much better than a repeated attempt on half-sibling, orphan or anything else that's been offered thus far.

Is it confirmed whether her character is transgender?

(I mean no offense by this question, regardless that the actress is not transgender in real life, it is possible that her character is so it is a serious question ).
Firstly, Michael is a name which can be used by women AND men.

Secondly, the WOMAN thing was just a riff on the old Shouting Spock meme. You know... THE WOMEN!! ;)

I could see the scene with Spock coming home for leave, seeing Burnham, and muttering, "Mother's brought in another stray child, I see..."

Could be part of the reason why Sarek and Spock were estranged. Maybe Spock is jealous of Burnham.

There was also talk of a train layout, which Sarek and Spock built together (complete with working waterfalls near Mount Seleya). Sarek started to show the trains to Burnham, and she started adding other touches which were not to scale. The rift began then between Sarek and Spock.

Yeah. I tend to think Quinto is a bit too old to play Lieutenant Spock at this point.
Probably, but Spock is such a difficult character to portray well, and Quinto is one of the few actors who's done a good job with it, largely I imagine because of Nimoy's mentoring.

I agree completely! It may be possible to have Quinto in a short appearance as Spock, although I'm not holding out hope that any TOS crew would appear on DSC. If they do, I will love it if done well.

My thinking is that you may not see Spock since he and Sarek are not speaking with each other. However, if they time the series to Spock's time of Pon Farr (every 7 years, happened in the second or third year of Kirk's command last we saw), it is possible.

I thought "Amok Time" made it pretty clear that was the first time he experienced Pon Farr?

Speaking of changing naming conventions, I would like to see more cross-cultural naming. We have an Asian with a Western name, Captain Philippa Georgiou, and this seems to be a fairly common trope in Hollywood. But I want to see the reverse... that is, characters with no apparent Asian heritage but who have very traditionally Asian surnames and given names. The flow of cultural influence should be reversed in the future.

I guess you would have liked the old 1960s German sci-fi series Raumpatrouille Orion then. All characters were portrayed by obviously German actors, but had international names like Atan Shubashi, Hasso Sigbjörnson and Mario de Monti.

I would love that. They can play him like a young delinquent in his room playing video games like "The Great Barrier" and "Godfinder" and experimenting with illegal telepathy enhancing drugs. And long hair of course.

I mean, essentially, isn't that the entire plot of ST:TFF?

The Search For Spock implied it first starts during the teenage years. Remember that bit with Savvik.

I just read it as Pon Farr hadn't caught up to Spock yet. Or else, he would have already married T'Pring during a previous cycle.

SPOCK: No. Nor am I a man. I'm a Vulcan. I'd hoped I would be spared this, but the ancient drives are too strong. Eventually, they catch up with us, and we are driven by forces we cannot control to return home and take a wife. Or die.

Spock is easily in his thirties during "Amok Time". So there were windows where he could've been married prior if he had gone through Pon Farr.
