Perhaps by the 23rd and 24th centuries humans and their allies have learned that if it works don't mess with it!! Wish we could have this going for us now. Look at Star Trek X1. All was well and Star Trek was working fine for us Trekkers and then someone came along and figured that Kirk needed to lose some dignity and polish and Spock needed to carry the inter racial kiss thing to an alternate universe and Uhura needed to be less professional and get up every minute from her station to mother Spock. It just wasn't good enough the way it was before.

What the hell are you talking about? All was not well. Star Trek was dead. Had been dead since ENT was cancelled. And before that, ENT and VOY were widely regarded as creative failures.

Star Trek was broke, and that's why it needed fixing!
