I sure was waiting for it to happen. A weird moment: When I saw him in the wheelchair, I got all giddy (which sounds sick, I know, I just mean the nod to TOS here) and at the same time I suddenly became frightened they would actually have him beep. I was ready to crawl under my chair. Because that would've been just too much for a 2009 audience.
