So who thinks the Original Series is the Best of all other Series

Nothing against DS9 but it isn't really anything like Trek should be. Although it did a good job with what it did. And it was a good concept going through the lives of people on a space station in the future. That show could have been done without using the Star Trek name and done well. But Star Trek was a more positive vision of the future and lot cleaner I guess is a good word. I like DS9 and TNG in some respects but they never quite hit what TOS always does.

To answer both of your questions, I believe TOS is the best overall, and TNG is the best of all other series. Keeping it strictly limited to Star Trek of course.

I've been watching Season One in it's entirety (yay Netflix!) and I have to say, I really, really love the Original Series. Love everything about it.

STNG is the best in my book. TOS second and DS9 a very close 3rd. All are worthy of being considered amongst the best TV series ever.

RAMA

TOS is certainly my favourite. It's what I grew up with. I've found something to enjoy in all the Treks that followed, but nothing can touch the original.

My faborite part of ST is TNG seasons 5 to 7, espiodes like unification or gambit.

Hi All,

Its my first time here so I wanted to ask all of you, who really thinks that the original series is the best series out of all the Star Trek Series out there??

Just wondering, anybody thinks that????

Hello and welcome!

There are other Star Trek series? :p

ST :TOS is the greatest TV show of all time :)

I'm real happy for you and Ima let you finish, but Firefly is the best Star Trek series of all time... Of All Time!

what... that meme is past its sell by date isn't it...

Yup TOS for me with DS9 a close second.

What would they call a show like that? Hey, how about "Babylon 5?" :techman:

(Heck, I'm not even a B5 fan, and I couldn't pass that up. I'm surprised no one else saw it first.)

Now, wait a second. I could even go out on a limb and say that Firefly is better than Star Trek (or more accurately, it could've been had it more time), but there's no way you can saw that Firefly is Star Trek. Babylon 5, yeah; Andromeda, absolutely. But Firefly's about as antithetical to Star Trek as nuBSG is.

Not that it matters. :p

Wagon train to the stars, innit? :rommie:

To the original question... just look at the titles of all the series... TOS isn't "TOS." It's actually called "Star Trek" (period). *grin* However, DS9 does run a close second (being the first gives TOS a permanent and unbeatable edge over anything that did or could follow, in my book).
If "The Cage" and WNMHGB had never been (or never aired) and "The Corbomite Maneuver" had been the TOS pilot it would easily outclass any subsequent series pilots. And it would have been an outstanding start for TOS because it perfectly represents what the series was about and what it aspired to do.

And I would take TCM over any of the films and anything the subsequent series have to offer.

I like the way you think. I think TCM is representative of the whole series. Being the first production episode, it set the bar very high for a sci-fi show of the time. It blew away sci-fi standards of the time. (must have monster... check.... must kill monster... NOPE. in fact, monster isn't a monster! Take that comptemporary sci-fi!)

Nothing against DS9 but it isn't really anything like Trek should be. Although it did a good job with what it did. And it was a good concept going through the lives of people on a space station in the future.

I disgree after actually getting around to watching the whole thing. When it first aired, I quit early (I had invested 2 years of trying very hard to like TNG, but was forced to give up, so I didn't want to put that much into trying again). I didn't see how the concept of "To Boldly Sit" could ever work. And yet after actually watching it, I realized it was the closest to the original in spirit, that I'd seen out of all of them. Partially because it was so different of a setup.

Where TOS was "Wagon Train to the Stars," DS9 was "Rifleman in Space." Each series blazed new ground for the franchise. At the end of each, I felt I knew the characters as almost real people, because they had been fleshed out so well. I cannot say the same for any of the other three (this has actually helped me enjoy a couple TNG books, as I had no idea whether something would be out of character for any of the cast[/u]). FWIW, and for context, I'm an original airing Trekkie.

The original Star Trek *IS* Star Trek to me. While the spin-off's have turned out some good stuff, they just feel like a "kinda Star Trek" thing.

Star Trek. It was the first. It's still the best. TNG did it well. DS9 did it better than TNG. nu-Trek did it better than TNG and DS9 put together. But none of them can touch what was done in those three seasons.

Star Trek. A television classic. Star Trek. A pop cultural phenomenon. Star Trek. A legend.

I love it.

Star Trek. When it was good it was awesome. When it was okay it was still interesting. When it stumbled it still wasn't boring.
