So when does S4 start?

Sterling K. Brown had a pretty good explanation of why the streaming model isn't built to afford long seasons - the shift from advertising-supported to subscriber-supported:

That doesn't really hold completely true anymore as Streams are creating Ad tiers at a cheaper cost so those that don't want commercials REALLY pay for that privilege now, and even Paramount has a completely Ad supported free streaming service called 'Pluto TV' that they've been successful a turning a profit with.

Network television shows are still doing 20 plus episode seasons and are running much longer
No. Network shows are rarely even making it to twenty episodes these days, and it's rare to go beyond that. These days, eighteen episodes is often considered a full season on a network, and it's not uncommon to find shows with less than that. Indeed, Fox even considers a twenty-two episode season to be an "Extra Large Episode Count."

Indeed, because of discussions like this one, I looked into how many American networks scripted shows actually did go over twenty episodes in the 2024-25 season. Here are the results:
Not a lot, actually. Looking over scripted programs on the networks for the 2024-25 season:
ABC only had one show go over 20 episodes, which did 22
CBS only had six shows to go over 20 episodes, which did 22
Fox only had four shows to go over 20 episodes, which did 22
NBC only had six shows to go over 20 episodes, which did 22.

So only seventeen network shows did more than twenty episodes last season.

Looks like 'Year One' is not going to happen.

Id put both sets in storage for potential future use. They could be easily redressed and reused on whatever show or movie that is being planned next.

Here's a reliable report:

Star Trek Universe Auction Announced; ‘Starfleet Academy’ AND ‘Strange New Worlds’ Sets Dismantled – TrekMovie.com https://trekmovie.com/2026/04/10/st...ademy-and-strange-new-worlds-sets-dismantled/

The previously cited sources are parasites that are frequently wrong and some cases fabricators of "news."
So yeah, that’s what I thought. The sets have been taken down, but there’s been no actual word about them being auctioned off or tossed in the bin.

I thought the SNW sets were still being stored?
Neither have been trashed as yet.

Striking down unused sets isn't abnormal as it's a working studio and they can use/rent out the stages.

When they announce the set pieces have been trashed (as was done with the Picard set pieces because it would cost more to transport to Toronto and store than it would to rebuild IF they were ever needed again...)

But yeah, I don't think any of the current Star Trek pitches will get made - and I doubt anything will get green light at Paramount until.the WB merger concludes or is blocked.

When the Enterprise sets were bulldozed, crew got pictures of the trashpile in the parking lot up online pretty quickly. And that was 2006.

the sets of star trek strange new worlds and starfleet academy getting taken down to be destoryed is like episodes out of all the star trek shows where the ships are being attacked and they are either destoryed or almost destoryed

Nothing has been destroyed. Only SFA's sets have been confirmed to be dismantled for auction purposes, not destroyed.

SNW may be a "fold and hold" order, which again does not mean destroyed.

The sets have been dismantled and are being auctioned off for both SFA and SNW. When I posted the link from 'Trek Central', it was because I had seen the original post from one of the set crew on Facebook (Dallas Suess). I tried to link to his post, but he'd taken it down very quickly - I think he must've been told to by someone because all his posts on Facebook are gone. That's the only reason I used the Trek Central link as they must've seen the same post as me. It reminded me of how John Eaves was forced to delete his whole Facebook account over the design of the TOS Enterprise controversy where he said he was told to make it 25% different for legal reasons.

You can read about it here. I collect Star Trek props (I don't have the deepest of pockets though - so my collection is limited). What us collectors expect is that the 403 auction house will sell the larger props (as they don't do postage). What I expect to happen is that the more coveted items like uniforms, phasers, tricorders etc... will be auctioned later by one of the bigger prop houses like prop store or heritage.

Whether the SNW sets have been dismantled is not in question. What is in question is whether they’re being auctioned off or destroyed. There’s been no word on that yet, only that they’ve been taken down. That makes sense, as even in the unlikely event that Year One moves forward, it would not go into production for well over a year.
