Looking at the pattern, somewhere between mid July and late August.

That makes a lot of sense. I say just fold S4 and S5 together since its only 15 episodes. Then I can cancel my sub again for the last time and wait for the 4K releases.
Well, it only makes sense if CBS is hurriedly trying to end their iteration of Star Trek before the end of 2026. I'm not saying that's actually the case, but there's evidence that this is their modus. CBS originally only wanted to do a 2 hour TV movie as the 5th season once SNW was cancelled, before relenting to the producers and giving them a shortened 6 episode final season. They are also currently filming SFA season 2 right on the coatttails of S1, which seems to me to be far sooner than normal. That smacks to me of trying to end CBSTrek as quickly as possible.
I really don't see the seasons airing back to back, as that would mess up branding, unless they decide to rebrand both as one season. Now, they could have a gap of only a few months and still air the fifth by the end of this year, but I personally have doubts. But it could happen.
It was 6 months between the end of Season 1 filming and Season 2 filming starting, which is about a normal length for the modern Trek shows.

It's the same reason they don't just drop all episodes at once on the same day.
They have a release cadence they continue to follow and that's not going to change as it gives them more time to develop and actually film and produce whatever will be following SNW and SFA.
No offense, but you don’t know any of that. For all we know, Skydance could just say fuck it, we’re done here even if there’s stuff produced from the previous regime that’s ready to go. We almost didn’t get the completely finished Prodigy season 2 because of similar circumstances.
Do I think that will happen? Doubtful. But what's entirely possible is that Skydance will just have CBS/Paramount show S4 & 5 back to back to have it done by this year. But we'll see in about 6 months.

Agreed. We've seen this happen many times when there is a regime change. The closing of the DCEU for the new DCU is just one example. They junked the Batgirl movie even though it was close to ready for release. They just said "Fuck it, we'll take the $70 million loss as a tax write off." Henry Cavil was told "Bye Bye" even though he just had a cameo in Black Adam and was led to believe that he was getting another movie as Superman.. etc. etc.
Well, the Skydance/Paramount merger was already underway when season five was announced as the final season. So I don’t know why we would expect them to then change that decision to basically make season four the last one, albeit with six more episodes. No, I think we’ll get a regular season four with ten episodes, then the second (and probably final) season of Starfleet Academy, followed by that truncated final season of Strange New Worlds.
Is someone implying the end of the Kurtzverse shows by this year?
