So what's up with the trailer Enterprise proportions?

great comparisons, but its like I said before, the saucer section is of st tmp design,so less bulbous more flat, and from neck down 60s tv

Nice composite.

I still don't see how the text on the saucer is 'off-center' in the trailer. Looks to be about spot-on to me.

As for the size of the nacelles, I don't mind one iota if they are indeed larger. The Koernerprise looks very nice with a larger set of engine nacelles.

One other possibility I will grant is what debush24 mentioned, that nacelles may not be in their mounted positions relative to the saucer section. If both nacelles were raised up, moved closer together and shifted forward until the domes were about even with the bridge module, they would look fairly close to what's shown in the teaser. One could rationalize that the shipyard where they're building it is not long enough to build all of the major components precisely in-place, so the nacelles have been constructed on large cradles above the back half of the saucer rather than completely behind it.

And here's what that would look like from a more revealing point of view:

So that's the position of the nacelles when the Enterprise is young, before they descend into place?

^ "Hey Bernie, where you want dese things? Just set em down anywhere? You got it, pal!"

It's also possible that the nacelles move, like the USS Voyager's. Perhaps the Big-E is in "atmospheric flight mode" or something.

Maybe the proportions of the Enterprise are changed by old Spock when he goes back in time. Like he goes back to when Archer and T'Pol are designing the Enterprise and suggests to them "perhaps make it bigger so there's more room for cattle." That is probably it. It can't be that Abrahams and his Lost cronies don't care about continuity. It just can't be.

You're probably right. I'm sure they'll devote 15 pages of the script to explaining why the caps on the ends of the nacelles are a different color.

Vektor --

Good job with the "Perspective Distortion" investigation back on page 2. That was exactly what I was asking about. I get your point about the camerea distance and the suacer curvature.

It looks like it is hard to emulate the size of those nacelle caps through perspective distortion without actually making the caps larger, but it was worth a try. Thank you.

Vector- your render is pretty.

I don't think it is perspective, or un-attached nacelles. I think they just rendered giant nacelles for the teaser. It looked good for the purposes they had in mind- JJ probably thought it would promote discussion- i.e. give us something to yak about until the next bit of info comes out.

It would seem silly that the nacelles are sitting on top of the primary hull waiting to be attached. They wouldn't be built over the ship either for that matter. Today's cruise ships are built more practically in sections, then glued together (Glue?!?)... So they wouldn't be shipped over and then layed over another part of the ship. Unless they are in the process of maneuvering them in to place with tractor beams at that very moment. Both at the same time. For balance maybe?

Why TF do I come here when I get up! It's too early for this...

Vector, send us more pictures please?

Oh yeah, there is something fishy about this debush24 fellow. It's his writing style- how he says things. There's something a little too contrived about how bad it is. Not that I'm the best writer in the world.

Great job with those images, Vektor. And that is still such an awesome Enterprise design.

Do you think he's a clone or something?!? I think so; the number in his name is a dead givaway.

I don't know yet. I'll let you know if I can track down nil to 23. But if he is, the clones belong in the Star Wars forums!

So the nacelles are testes?
