So What the Frak Is 12 Going to Be Called?

With them usurping the Star Trek title for this film (which is one of my few major qualms with it; I'm willing to give it a chance, I just dislike the usurping of the name and one or two other little things) my question is... what the frak are they going to do for 12?

I mean, can they call it Star Trek 2, or something? Or would that just be confusing as hell?

They could go back to the no-number sub-title route, like Generations through Nemesis.

They could go modern Batman route, and after Star Trek (Begins) do something like "Where No Man Has Gone Before" as a title...

Still... it feels like they didn't think this thing out.

By using just "Star Trek" it's going to eventually confuse some folks, between film and TOS. Not the fans, but the new people who might decide to become Trekkies. Since they're going to have to face the problem with the next film, theoretically... why didn't they just sub-title this film?

Star Trek: The Future Begins

Star Trek Begins

You know?

*Shrug*

I'd die laughing if they, even as a joke, gave the film next the working title "Star Trek 12: So Very Tired"

I could see them doing this (but not the specific title you suggested, as it's already the title of an episode) since it's the hip thing these days.

Star Trek: The Future Begins

They couldn't use this because it's already the tagline for the new Terminator movie.

Star Trek Begins

This could only be a fake working title...like how "Casino Royale" was also jokingly referred to as "Bond Begins". I love how people made fun of the title of that Batman movie, but I thought it was actually a good title.

Me too. "Captain's Log. I complain...but...nobodylistens." :guffaw:

The Dark Captain

It's going to blow everyone's expectations and make a billion dollars at the box office.

"Star Trek" is the "First" film in this new timeline, so yeah, 'Star Trek II: The Wrath of Star Trek Fans' should be next j/k :p

confuse how...

i think most people know most of the original tos cast are either dead or too old to be player the characters in the tos era.

My pick would be Star Trek 2.

Though, we'll probably get Star Trek [Subtitle].

Also, how are they "usurping" the title?

"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

They've thought it out and right now, something as provocative as simply "Star Trek" is ideal - no bloody TVH, TFF, TUC, Gen or FC. So long as any future titles don't conflict with past movies, I think we'll all be safe.

Get past making this a success, then worry about sequels.

they couldn't call it star trek 2, since then it would share a title with the consensus best star trek movie. i bet they'll probably go the batman route. the title "where no man has gone before" actually has a nice ring to it, although it's probably been the punchline to too many jokes.

it seems they want a break with the previous franchise, so i don't know what they'll do, especially for movie 13, 14, etc. they could call it Star Trek X2. that would be goofy but maybe their best bet.

I agree with those who say it may be do what The Dark Knight did and leave the words "Star Trek" out of the title completely. However, I think this first film would need to achieve a certain level of popularity before that happens.
