So what are you reading now (Part 4)?

^ The whole TNG / Titan / VOY / Aventine continuity? That's a fair amount of books. Have fun.

Yeah, it'll be my second time through. I loved most of them the first time through, and I doubt that will change the second time.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I won't be reading Death in Winter (didn't bother getting it after it didn't get very good reviews) or Reistance (for the same reason) and Before Dishonor (I have and tried it twice but couldn't get past the second or third chapter).

I just finished A Time to Kill and A Time to Heal!

Yeah, I'm pretty behind in my reading.

I finished Inferno. It was alright, but not a patch on The Fall of Terok Nor or The War of the Prophets. All the time-hopping, the in/out of phase stuff and OTT technobabble was too much - it felt farcical and contrived. I'm not sure quite what happened at the end - the (blue) wormhole aliens inexplicably save the day?:wtf:

Also, in case you didn't know, The Genesis Wave series is actually four books. The last one is called Genesis Force.

Oh, no no no.

There are two books. The story begins and ends in two books.

;)

Granted, there is some book that is called 'Genesis Force' and 'Genesis Wave 3' but....they're a myth. Some who had the unfortunate circumstance to come across these books say they are continuing a story that already ended...'pulling strings' so to speak.

We don't acknowledge those books...we do not speak of it.

Finished Doctor Who: Apollo 23. Next up is the next novella in Corps of Engineers: What's Past, The Future begins by Steve Mollmann & Michael Schuster.

Actually, I feel the same way. There was no good reason for books three and four. The story ended in two.

Of course, I feel the same way about the Terminator films, but.....

Still I figured our friend upthread might want to read the whole thing.

^Yeah, but we did get The Sarah Conner Chronicles, which I thought was pretty awesome once it got going.

^^

Did they ever end it? Or was it just canceled without a resolution?

If it was the latter, I may watch it sometime.

As for what I am reading:

Still on 'Prime Directive.' I just finished Part One, and so far I'm impressed. We still don't know how things came to be...and, like a good story, I have to keep reading to see 'what happened' to the ENT crew, and how are they going to get out of it.

I did like the opening; it was a play on words where I thought the 'guy' being introduced wasn't going to make it past the first chapter, until we find out who it is...and that his story is a bit bigger than we thought. (Yes, I'm being broad for those who haven't read the book).

Depends on how you look at it. The Sarah Connor Chronicles ended with a pretty enormous cliffhanger, in several respects, but showrunner Josh Friedman has said he considers it a satisfactory ending because he's more interested in asking questions than answering them. It can be seen as a resolution in some ways, but I found it disappointingly open-ended and enigmatic.

But regardless of how it ends, TSCC is definitely worth watching. It's the smartest take on the Terminator franchise I've ever seen.

Finished The Future begins, next: Doctor Who: Night of the Humans by David Llewellyn.

Since I just realized the last movie is coming out in about 2 months, I started rereading/watching (for about the 7th or 8th time at least) the Harry Potter books/movies. It was my favorite book series when they were coming out, but I haven't read them since the last one came out, so now that it's been a few years, I'm very curious to see what I think of them.

I went to a used bookstore and found the StarTrek Voyager novel about Captain Proton. It looks like an interesting novel.

I am about half way through "The Lost Years", on my brand new Kindle 3! I am liking the book and loving the Kindle! :techman:

I'm still reading Star Trek Log 7, and I'm about 130 pages into Full Circle. I'm really enjoying it, but I hope all this Klingon prophecy stuff has a reason of some sort for existing and isn't just a nonsense plot device. DS9 got away with ancient prophecies because they all stemed from timeless aliens, and in the case of the Millenium trilogy time travel was involved too.

Well, that was a left over plot thread from Christie Golden's books, so Kirsten Beyer was just tieing up the lose ends from the other books.

I'm still on 'Prime Directive;' and I wanted to make some nitpicks and comments.

*Kirk and Carolyn Palamas seem to have 'a thing' going on...yet, it doesn't seem to affect Scotty. (Too, I would have liked the idea of her having Apollo's child...and dealing with 'God'-like offspring; but, we'll see how it ends).

*Being broad: I've come to the part where things seemed to have turned for the worse, and Kirk is trying to uphold the 'Prime Directive' by making things right.

I saw a post in the nuTrek section about having the crew 'explore strange new world'...

From what the book is doing, it's really getting into the characters, something that another post claimed Star Trek is unable to do within 2 hours. (That's bullshit, because many movies--good movies--have you feel for the characters, have the characters go through arcs while dealing with obstacles...i.e. Raging Bull, Rocky Balboa, The Karate Kid (2010)...and the list goes on and on...)

Another thing I like about this story, is the authors only feeding the reader--me, in this case--so much at a time. I have to read in order to find out what is going to happen.

I mean:
I know the crew will make it through....but how? They haven't been in this situation before.

This is exactly how the new movie should go; give a challenge to our characters. (We got our 'New Hope'....now lets get our ST version of 'Empire Strikes Back;' of course, don't give us a 'Return of the Jedi'/'Superman 3' or a 4th film that is 'Superman: Quest for Peace')...

I'm digressing....
