It was actually one of the four new books I picked up today. I also got Somewhere Inside: The One Sister's Captivity in North Korea and the Other's Fight to Bring Her Home by Lisa Ling (she was one of the two women held captive in North Korea last year) and Laura Ling. Star Wars: Outbound Flight, I've been wanting to read this stories ever since I first read the Thrawn trilogy years ago so I decided to finally get it. Then the last one I got was the third Dresden Files book, Grave Peril.
It might be a little while before these though, I've got alot of other stuff in my to read pile, although with the way TSK ended I'm probably not going to wait to long for ASG.

i'd say good, but i loved the RC books so i may be biased.

Not sure about the Diane Carey bit, but as she is actually English (Ms Traviss lives not far from me) being able to write recognisable English is a very good thing.
 
I wouldn't want to read a whole lot of Traviss, given her militarism, politics, and Mandalorian obsession. But her take on the Star Wars universe makes some very good points that the movies don't go anywhere near.
 
i loved the RC books for using a lot of British Army slang and terminology. it's so AWESOME to read SF that's not just the USMC/USN in space and the names filed off.

although her backronym of 'Tactical Advance into Battle' for the term 'tab' made me LOL.
 
So I bet you're pretty dissapointed that she's left the franchise then?
 
I have finsiehd the New Frontier novel Requiem and I am now reading the New Frontier novel Renaissance

Have you read Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire by Drew Struzan? It takes place between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. I finished it about a month ago and it's a good book.
 
^Actually, it's by Steve Perry. Struzan may have painted the cover, though. I agree that it is a great read.

I'm reading Constellations for the first time since its release. A third of the way through, I'm impressed with the very solid character-based storytelling.
 
Completed the New Frontier novel Renaissance. I'm taking a little break from New Frontier as I am know reading the S.C.E. omnibus Some Assembly Required
 
I just started the CSI novel Snake Eyes, although I might set it aside. It sounded good when I started it, but now I'm not sure if I'm in the mood for something like that.
 
Read the first three (reissued) volumes of Warren Ellis's Transmetropolitan. I skipped it when it was first being published because the whole cyberpunk Hunter S. Thompson vibe just looked like it was trying too hard to be cool. I finally decided to give it a shot a year or so ago and got the first (original) volume not too long before DC decided to reissue the series with more issues per book. Anyway, it's smart, it's funny, and it works. I'll have to get the rest of the series.
