So... Transformers 2 countdown thread... too soon?

After seeing two new sequences this weekend at Botcon, I'm totally jazzed now. Until then all my geekboy excitement had been going towards Trek. It's still there, but after seeing Devastator merge and Bumblebee kicking ass I really need to see this film nownownownow!

Interesting. was it all action clips or was there any actual "story moments" in them?

Definite dramatic moments in the Bumblebee scene. We get to see Sam truly grown and willing to sacrifice himself for the sake of others. His parents also play a stronger role (as hinted at in the trailers) and there's a definite sense of danger in the scene.

The Devastator scene was just that - the combination and a bit with Simmons. It was an amazing effect however. Your eyes just go wild trying to process how many moving bits go into the creature. It's quite stunning!

I saw an advanced screening of it today. It's a Bay movie what can you say. Running time was 2 hours and 31 minutes. It's too long. He should cut 20 minutes in my judgement. People were staring to look at their watches at about 2 hours and 10 minutes. In fairness I am not a big fan of the first movie, or of Bay's work in general. Some funny bits, but the set piece robot engagements seemed too long.

^ People complained the first movie didn't have enough robots, so maybe this is what happens when the fans get their wish.

Haven't seen this movie poster before.

Transmorphers... more than the eye can see.

See how easy it is to come up with ideas for a mockbuster? :)

Because hanging plot threads make Baby Jesus cry... does Barricade (the Mustang cop car) return?

AFAIK, yes. i think nearly all the first movie 'cons are; certainly Megatron, Starscream, Blackout, Scorponok and Barricade are. not sure about the tank guy or Frenzy.

Well since i believe the Tank guy's name is Devestator and the Constructicons are in the movie he might not be back to avoid confusion.

Tank guy was mislabeled as Devastator for the movie. The toy has him as Brawl. I think Michael Bay wanted to keep Devastator because he liked the name better.

Don't all jump on me for this, but....the first movie SUCKED. And the new one looks worse! None of the Transformers actually looked like...Transformers! Starscream was...I don't even know what he was. He wasn't Starscream, that's for sure.

Also, when did Optimus get that shoddy paint job? Flames? Really?

I don't know. The actual Transformers themselves were impressive I suppose...but there was about 10% giant robot action, and the rest was completely unbelievable plot nonsense on a bunch of human characters I really didn't give a toss about.

Plus, not enough Grimlock. Graaaarghhhh!

Hum. I guess I'm not the target audience on this one...! ;)

Well at least you could give Bay credit for NOT using this idea

Remeber kids at least Micheal Bay didn't mine the Japanese G1 series for ideas.

Whaddaya mean? I'd pay to see Megan Fox try to act that off the screen! :guffaw:
