I'm more interested in the description at the end: "Star Trek Beyond takes place deep into the five year voyage of The Enterprise." So no more of this origin-story stuff -- we're apparently jumping forward a fair amount of time.
As far as I'm concerned, that would be great. We've seen them young and green on the big screen, and we've seen them old and gray. Not that those movies weren't entertaining and apt to the characters at that point in their lives, but let's finally see them in full bloom without any major life crises or other personal issues to work through.
Yes, I'm looking forward to finally seeing a movie where the TOS characters are, if you pardon the expression, in their prime.
Plus, ST09 was filmed almost eight years ago, so they really need to advance their in-universe ages a little bit to reflect reality.
Hopefully, this will drive a stake through the "Trek Babies" jokes as well.
