So just how long until The Next Generation gets Rebooted?

I may have said this before, but TATV would have made a lot more sense set on the Titan, rather than the Enterprise D. Then you wouldn't have the comparison of Frakes to his TNG series appearance....

However, if they made a Titan series, I'd be there yesterday and I too, think Sirtis still looks hot!

TATV with the Titan? That would have been so $#@!ing cool, and would have made so much more sense.

Anyway,

I was thinking of a real earthy-shaking reboot like the one BSG had. Forty years from now. The entire series recast. Data/Picard are women. LaForge is a space ghost, or whatever. Welsey Crusher is a Vulcan.

I remember reading that Picard and co. had achieved the same popularity or familiarity as Kirk and co about 5-10 years ago. That's why I would consider a radical far-off reboot a possibilty in the years to come.

:guffaw:

Good one. However, never put it past Hollywood to do something totally out of the blue completely misunderstanding it's subject matter.

I hope it doesn't get rebooted. TNG, like TOS, doesn't need a reboot. However, given the alter of the Almighty Dollar, we'll see some retooled version of the old show like TOS these days.

And by 2027, CGI technology will reach a point that new actors will not be required. We'll see a continuation of TOS with Shatner and Nimoy while their ancestors fight over royalties. :)

Even the highly praised BSG reboot lost it's way and is getting terminated.

Not exactly true. Although the writing has slipped, it hasn't lost it's way. The story arc reached a point where it had to be settled. Also, like the original BSG, it's an expensive show to produce. TPTB decided to let it run a full season and bow out. The Sci-Fi channel will go back to flogging the life out of Stargate: Whatever Is Next and such wonderful movies as "Mansquito".

SciFi75,

Your quote is from my post. And yes it has been officially set into finale mode.

They had the potential to make it a 10 season show with ever growing ratings if they didn't turn everyone into a raving psychotic and try to turn Starbuck (One Fucked Up Individual) into a Frakking messiah. Lost it's way, it has done indeed.

I won't be watching S4 of BSG when Sci-Fi decides to grace the US market with it's presence.

And since Paramount calls the shots, not folks on the TreKBBS, you'd both be right.

They'll never go that route with TNG.

Re: So just how long until The Next Generation gets Rebooted

No, I just don't want to see them. Period.

Because folks wanted to see them, I guess is why they kept making movies "20 years after the show ended."

Yeah, in fanfilm...

Re: So just how long until The Next Generation gets Rebooted

I would rather see a contunuation of TNG rather that a reboot. Wasn't TNG originally supposed to be a 20 year mission? Imagine the characters they could've come up with, and changed throughout the series. Some main characters could be transferred to other ships, coming to save the Enterprise in the last minute. They should've focused on TNG rather than more spin-off series, as much as I love DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise.
