So in another life I'd be...

i totally ripped that off from an 80s toyline luv, and it's associated comic book.

Cheat
Even more than you know, since that toyline, in turn, was a huge ripoff of another toyline you might be more familiar with:

"GI JOE® is code name for America's daring, highly trained special mission force. Its purpose: to defend human freedom against COBRA®, an evil organization determined to rule the world."

Yo, Joe! I can't imagine anyone admitting to liking Action Force. It's like saying that one is a big fan of margarine. :p
As for actual other lives...I'm pretty sure I've had some. One of them was in the past in Japan. Every time I see pics or clips from old parts of Kyoto I have the uncanny feeling that I know it already.
Rather than retype this....

I'd post a link to another rather long and complex alternate reality that I described for myself on the boards here at one point, or repost it here, BUT I DON'T HAVE EVEN SEARCH ACCESS TO THE DAMNED CAPTAIN'S LOUNGE ANYMORE!!! (The yelling is for the "benefit" of the mods - this has been a pet peeve of mine for what seems like quite a while, now.)

Pure genius :guffaw: I loved the way they gently took the mickey out of their guests but never humiliated them or made them look or feel uncomfortable ~ Jonathon Ross and Sacha Cohen fail miserably at this :vulcan:

'that was to Zee'

Years later they tried to rebrand GI Joe in the UK as "GI Joe: The Action Force" - but by that time their popularity was waning and they were superceded by other fare such as the Biker Mice from Mars or something like that...

It reminds me of 'Toy Story' too, Buzz Lightyear had similar plans I recall...

I post pretty much daily, but I have noticed that we haven't been crossing threads often, lately. Don't know why. Just a lot of different stuff to talk about on the board, I guess.

Nice to see you, too. :)

wrong. completely and totally wrong. watch now as i completely and utterly destroy you.

Hasbro licensed the original 12 inch GI Joe figures to the UK toy company Pallitoy. Pallitoy sold it in the UK and Europe as 'Action Man'. in 1982, following the success of Kenner's 3 3/4in Star Wars toys, Hasbro relaunched GI Joe in a 3 3/4in scale in their 'Real American Hero' line.

Kenner had licensed Star Wars toys to Pallitoy for manufacture and sale in Europe. Pallitoy's success with the smaller toys led to them opting to produce their own 3 3/4in soldier figures in 1982, 'Action Man: Action Force' initially consisted of scaled down versions of 12in figures, 2 Para, Royal Marine, US Paratrooper, SAS, German Stormtrooper, Desert Rat, etc. Some later figures were more fanciful, such as the Desert Assault or the Night Patrol. Four vehicles, a skimobile, a multi-mission vehicle (amphibious jeep that could also fly), a jeep with detachable boat and a diving platform.

In 1983, Pallitoy relaunched Action Force in a similar style to GI Joe - good guys and bad guys, fighting for the fate of the world. Many of these were repainted and rejigged versions of the first figures, 2 Para/Royal Marine became the Z Force Skip figure. SAS became Eagle of SAS Force. The frogman became an SAS Force frogman and was repainted twice to serve as two Q Force figures, Shark and Dolphin. The range also included new and rejigged vehicles. The new included a submersible called the Sea Lion, a kayak, and an enemy aircraft called the Roboskull. the four existing vehicles were repurposed; the skimobile became the Space Force Satellite Defence sled, the MMV was reused as both the enemy Shadowtrak vehicle and merged with parts of the diving platform to create the Swordfish boat while the jeep with its boat was split, the boat becoming an SAS Force boat and the jeep the Z Force jeep.

This series also used nine Joe figures licensed from Hasbro as drivers for various vehicles/sets licensed from Hasbro. The Joe's HAL became the Laser Exterminator with Red Laser - repaint of Cobra Commander; the Joe Wolverine was repainted in black and grey for SAS Force use with a repainted Cobra officer as 'Hunter'; Scarlett became Z Force's Quarrel with a repainted RAM bike; Snake Eyes' first version was given grey highlights to become Stalker driver of the SAS Force Panther, a black and grey version of the VAMP; Destro was given a red chest to become Red Jackal the enemy driver of the Hyena, a red HISS; Tripwire was painted black and grey to become Blades, pilot of the SAS Force Hawk, a redeco of the FANG; The US Stalker figure and Gung Ho were repainted to become Z Force's Jammer and Gaucho with a Z Force repaint of the Command Centre playset and Steeler was given a minor repaint to drive a minor repaint of the Joe MOBAT as the Z Force tank.

In 1985, Pallitoy removed all their UK originated figures from the line. All figures from 1985 were simply repacked US GI Joe figures. Most of the vehicles were also US imports, with the exception of the Silent Attack Kayak, the Sea Lion, Roboskull and the Space Force Triad which were all given new sticker sheets and sold as part of the new AF. Cobra replaced the Red Shadows as the villains. Pallitoy went defunct the same year.

Hasbro relaunched Action Force in 1987, using packaging modelled on the US version and selling exclusively US stuff. The rebrand to GI Joe: The Action Force occured in 1990, later simply GI Joe.

as for no-one admitting to be fans, 400-odd people on here would beg to differ.

and my Galahad story is 100% original. it's from a comic i never wrote.

See? Rip-off. 'Nuff said.

Yes. 400 very odd people. :p

Oh, btw - I don't really care. I was a Diaclones ...er Go-Bots... er Robotech... ahem ... TRANSFORMERS kid, and barely ever messed with G.I. Joe. And, I'm a big fan of remakes of songs from the '80s. I'm a big ole hypocrite, and I was totally wasting your time.

Well, you *are* a flaptain now, my dear. Can't search a lounge that you can't read. ;)

And where have *you* been? It's been hours! I know about the time differential but I am experiencing K withdrawal already. :sigh:
