So, I'm now a writer on a new Trek show set in the Prime Universe...

Show the main shuttle bay of a Galaxy class starship.

Retroactively canonise all female officers to wear the skant.

On the subject of mines...I've not played the games. I can't imagine how they'd work in battle. Can't you just not fly into them? Space is big and three-dimensional.

The...err, games depicted ST space combat on a 2D plane. :shifty:

Although even a 3D environment, dropping mines would cause a pursuing to have to change course to avoid it, possibly moving their optimal phaser lock away or affecting the ease of locking on a torpedo.

Wouldn't mines being used like that make combat more complicated for the ship laying them? All that time positioning mines and laying mines could be better spent firing weapons and avoiding being destroyed.

I'd say starships carrying mines as armaments is a good idea, as they could work for special combat circumstances, but wouldn't be too useful in your average battle.

And wasn't that shuttlebay we'd always seen in TNG the main one? And I never knew...

Nah, we only ever saw Shuttlebay 2 depicted. Shuttlebay 1 was much larger but was only seen as a model.

,,, while Tasha is talking with Shooter McGavin in 10-Fwd.
Was Shooter McGavin sporting that nickname because he's good with a phaser or because he's a bit of a lush?

One type of modern naval mine are older torpedoes (mark 46's) housed in a metal capsule (encapsulated torpedo) when a enemy ship passes by the torpedo fires. If star fleet uses mines they would need to be able to pursue their target, maybe into warp.

Oh, those cool force-field suits from that Animated Series episode (I forget the name of it :().

Those seemed actually futuristic compared to the bulky space suits Starfleet seemed to continue using right through to the 24th century.

^^^ Beyond the farthest star, the first TAS episode.

One thing I'd canonize is my own red matter theory, to explain why time travel would seem to work differently in Trek XI than in the rest of Trek. I e-mailed it to the guy who runs EAS, and he approved. I'd have someone mention hearing about it at a conference or something, like the opening of Nor the Battle to the Strong.
