So I'm going to see Solo at the cinema on my own.

Well, I just went to Deadpool on my own, but that doesn't scan as well !I

I prefer going on my own whenever possible. Also first performance on a weekday morning to ensure there are as few people in the cinema as possible. And no children !

I started seeing occasional movies by myself about a quarter of a century ago.

I mean, I'd done it since the 70s, but by the mid-80s the home video revolution had put all those cinemas down near McPherson Square out of business.

Since I go to the films so rarely, going alone is not really a possibility, but I can understand the appeal.

To me, a movie is not a social event. So it doesn't matter whether I'm with people or not. Lately I end up going by myself more often than not.

Well, I usually go with a couple of mates, but there are some films I've gone to see on my own.

It's when you're also the only one in the cinema when it seems to feel a bit weird:D

I love it when that happens! I can kick back like a slob, loudly smack my popcurn and slurp my beverage and burp loudly without having to worry about bothering anyone.

I'm not fond of seeing movies by myself... It's just a thing.. I don't like going out to eat by myself either.

That said, I did see Return of the Jedi by myself when I was a kid. I was in Durango with my folks on opening weekend and wanted to see it, but they didn't... I have to say the Durango crowd was feisty.

I would go alone if nobody wanted to go with me but for me a lot of the fun is talking it over with someone

If the talking is saved for after the movie, then that can be very interesting. I don't like hearing a bunch of commentary during the movie, as often seems to happen when I watch a movie with a group.

I feel that way about gigs - I've been to hundreds but only two on my own, and it feels a bit weird. That's a more social thing though.

Cinema is fine on my own. Probably better...

Each to their own but I could never imagine going to a cinema on my own, having someone to talk to on the way there and whilst the 35 minutes of commercials are on, looking at each others reactions to certain scenes, also having someone to discuss the movie with after. I see it as the equilvant as going to a restaurant on your own, yes you can sit there happily eating away but you look a little sad/lonely.
