Man, it sucks. I used to have a pretty good body back in my swimming instructor days. Having come down 110kg to 75kg. But now ive ballooned back up to 92kg and its seriously starting to frustrate me. Between working full time and studying I have little or no time to form any kind of exercise routine and healthy eating is a thing of the past.

I figure as a paramedic i should be a promoter of a healthy lifestyle but i'm finding myself at a loss of where to begin. I bought myself an exercise bike today in the hopes that may kick-start any kind of fitness program, so hopefully that will take off soon.

Any suggestions or ideas would be very much appreciated...

I'm getting a treadmill for my b'day. All I need is a decent sound system and I'm away...

What's your diet like? Even if you exercise, you'll be fighting an uphill battle if you're not eating right.

Add some weight training in there a few days a week, if you can. Don't feel like you have to do a huge routine or anything either. A quick warm-up, then exercises to work the major muscle groups (bench press, push ups, forward or lat raises for chest, back and shoulders; weighted lunges/squats for legs and rear; sit ups and extensions for abs/lower back) will be fine for starting out. Also, don't forget to have a good stretch, nothing stops exercise earlier than an annoying injury that could be prevented with proper form and rest time!

If you already have a fairly good base of fitness, try perhaps a mini-circuit with your exercise bike. 5 minutes cycling, get down on the floor for sit-ups/push-ups, then back on the bike, then lunges etc etc.

Work out with friends. My exercise routines habitually failed until two friends and I started jogging together 3 times a week. Having them there keeps me pushing myself, and I've had more success with that than with any previous attempt.

I know it sounds ridiculous but Wii Fit on the Wii really helps...it has helped me lose 7lbs in a month...its really good

Thanks guys for the info. One thing i know that I have to improve is my diet. It's horrible at the moment. Im constantly missing meals, and the meals that I do have are hardly healthy choice. Im trying to write up a meal planner.

I find one of the best ways to make sure I eat right is to prepare a lot of meals ahead time and freeze them. Then all I have to do is grab one out of the freezer.
