NICE!!!

NICE!!!
I do hope you're talking about bio-cars, not Asian cars.
Seeing as my question on the matter was avoided, I have a feeling it's the latter.![]()
I don't bother with questions that have obvious answers. My hatred for Japanese cars is well known. They have no style. They have no class. They have no chance of ever becoming a classic worthy of hot-rodding/restoration one day and I don't like how they drive, either.
Toyota repeatedly paying off Jesse Jackson to avoid boycotts over the years isn't going to change my mind about them, either.
And that Monte Carlo doesn't have a 365hp engine option, either.
The mileage of that car, in any trim level, is still far superior to anything I've ever had in my life. If I bought a Taurus, it would be the first Ford product I've ever owned.
Mr. Mass sent me a Facebook message thanking me for going out to the dealership to check out the car. I think the thanks should be going the other way around. Checking out cars is always a fun time... unless it's something that burns rice instead of petro chemicals.![]()
I'm just saying Ford can do better than that. My Chevy's a 1999 Monte Carlo and I get 30 MPG, and that was way before gas prices got this high.

I was going to say, J....
The EPA estimate for the 1999 Monte Carlo LS 3.1 L is 21 city/26 hwy mpg with 160 hp. The Z34 with the 3.8 L and 200 hp got 19 city/30 hwy mpg. The EPA has also changed their testing methodology in the past few years making newer vehicles have worse mpg rating, relatively speaking, by about 10%. It was to reflect the higher speeds an increased stop and go traffic people face now.
The 2010 Taurus has 263 hp, weighs more due to more safety and convenience features and better stiffness than any Monte Carlo ever made, and it gets 18/28mpg with front wheel drive and 18/25 mpg with all wheel drive. The 365 hp SHO version with awd gets the same 18/25 mpg. You probably wouldn't want to try comparing emmissions or NVH characteristics of the new Ford motor vs. your old pushrod either.
It's a bit like the bullshit argument "Why did the Model T get 25 mpg and the average car today only gets 21 mpg?!" Look at it! I'm sure if anyone actually wanted a 20 horsepower car with a 1200 pound curb weight, no safety features and a top speed of 45 mpg, Ford would be happy to build them and they'd get a hundred fifty frigging miles a gallon! But virtually no one does!!! I look at it from an engineer's point of view, and there have been FANTASIC improvements in vehicle design in the past 50 years.
This car competes with V6 versions of the Mazda 6, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord that get similar numbers. If you are that concerned about gas mileage, Ford also offers the exceptional Fusion. The I4 has 175 hp and gets 22/31 mpg with the manual and 23/34 mpg with the automatic. The Fusion Hybrid has a combined power rating of 191 hp and gets 41city/36 hwy mpg.
And that Monte Carlo doesn't have a 365hp engine option, either.
Nope, but it still hauls ass and gets me where I need to go, and I save lots of money on fuel.

That would be Spyker. In 25 years there's probably only going to be one car company anyway--probably associated with an airline.
See, Ford has its shit together. I've never been a Ford fan but they know what they are doing. Come on, GM!

Don't worry, the General will be back to his old winning ways soon enough. I'm just sad that Pontiac and Oldsmobile won't be going along for the ride.
