So I got my first manicure and pedicure

My wife has been bugging me to go for a pedicure for a while now. She has been very concerned that my heels will start cracking because I have such thick calluses. I finally relented and we went to the spa together the other day to take advantage of package deal a local spa has.

I have to admit that it was fairly enjoyable and will probably go again. Has any other guy out there discovered that a pedicure and manicure isn't such a bad thing after all?

My mother could give me one of those for free, seeing as how it's her job.

But... I don't know. I just don't really see the point. It's alright though, I barely use my legs, anyway. You've never heard of a grown man asking for so many piggy back rides.

I like to get a pedicure, maybe once a year. I do have pretty badly calloused heels and they do get cracked a lot. I also tend to get ingrown toe nails and getting them trimmed correctly helps to stem that problem. And it feels nice, and sometimes it feels good to treat yourself every now and then.

Manicures on the other hand, I don't do often. I had one before my wedding, and I think that's it. I didn't like the way my nails felt afterward, even if they looked nice.

I've never been to a salon although a lady friend of mine has done my nails in the past. One of my teachers in high school was married to the owner of a nail salon and he extolled the virtues of manicures and such for men so the idea isn't foreign to me.

I trim and file my own nails. Don't most men? Anyway, my fingernails grow so fast that if I had them professionally manicured, I'd have to go at least every two weeks. My budget isn't even in that ballpark.

A few years ago I had a recurring problem with painful ingrown toenails. Finally I saw a podiatrist and he zapped the edges of the nail beds with a laser. I needed pain medication for a few days after the treatment (it's a small, controlled burn, after all), but ever since, I've been ingrown-toenail-free.

I have been going to a nail salon with my wife for a few years now. I can't imagine life before, when I didn't go. Many men think this is, umh unmanly. I look at it as no different then going to get your haircut, a shave or a message. More men should take care of their hands and feet.

I've had manicures done and they're pretty cool. Nails look and feel great. I'd have them more often if I found a salon nearby I felt comfortable enough with to use regularly. I just discovered that one of my former colleagues has opened up a salon round the corner from me, so I think I might check it out.

Pedicures I can't see the point of for guys unless you wear open-toed shoes really often, or do loads of walking. If you lived somewhere warm where you're in sandals a lot, fair enough.

A RUSTY DULL POCKETKNIFE..sir

NOW TURN IN YOUR GUY CARD....

Um, I manage to take care of my feet just fine by myself. I don't know what a pedicure would accomplish.

Real men trim their nails with a pocketknife. A dull pocketknife.

My grandad really did trim his nails with his pocket knife, though he was rather meticulous about keeping it sharp, so I guess he wasn't a real man, after all.

I've had so many friends, both male and female, extol the virtues of the manny-peddy, but I've never done it yet. May have to add that to the list for 2011.

TM, may i say that i first found this avatar more than just slightly .....creepy? But then i realized it was TM in a Spock mask for Halloween, and then all was right with the world.

I do both. I was happy with the way my feet were but obviously my wife was not. Still, I have to admit my feet look and feel pretty good now.

A manicure would be pointless, my hands would be covered in grazes I would have oil under my fingernails within 24 hours.

My feet are already soft and attractive.

Mani/pedis really differ depending on where you go. I've recently fallen in love with french manicures, but I'm not about to part with that sort of money on a regular basis. Pedicures are just uncomfortable for me since I'm so ticklish.

I think more guys should try them though, just to see if you find it relaxing or not.

Do you regularly wear shoes that chaff a little? Or perhaps they're half a size too big, especially if you've lost weight at some point. You may find you don't need those pedicures after all if you simply change the brand of shoes you wear. Having said that - I approve of detail oriented male grooming! Beautiful feet are a delight to me, I don't understand phobias of them!
