So how important is canon, then?

y'all want vulcans to have tenderless, passionless, non-reproductive sex without love? illogical.
I don't give two craps what a fictional race does or doesn't do. I think Vulcans are capable of sex outside of ponn far, and there is no reason to believe otherwise. Other races just assume the once in 7 years thing and don't bother to learn differently and Vulcans are content with their ignorance.

There is plenty of subtext and authorial intend to satisfy me.
Never in 21 years here did I ever think I'd make a post this but here it goes...

... blood flow causes the reproductive organs to swell. Swell to the point of physical discomfort. So the organs have to be satiated in order to restore normal blood flow. Normal blood flow is logical.

Why do I feel like Fonzie jumping over a shark?
Because this thread jumped the shark a long time ago.

Who decides what is a “proper counter argument”?
one that addresses the points it wants to challenge

only when sexually aroused

Again, the question is not one of capability, but if they do it or not.

Love and sex are usually joined at the hip.
did you really miss that tuvok was a pre-suppression teen back then?

in adults, i mean. or what's your point?

I miss the early days of the board when we used to close threads after 100 posts.

I'm an advocate for bringing that back.
kinda arbitrary, and there wouldn't be any general topics anymore, or lots of duplicates

True. We haven't even gotten to some of the worst stuff I've read in fandom regarding Vulcan sex ;)
i'm actually curious - what's the worst stuff? XD

Or: "the poster who was oddly determined to deprive Vulcans of sex"...
correction: the poster who dared believe the show he is a fan of.
alternatively: the poster who had to explain why canon is not fanon, which people failed to understand. ;)

but since it's been explained and repeatedly substantiated as well as it can based on canon sources, and the counterarguments have been addressed, we can decompress the shuttlebay now

It wasn't arbitrary at the time. Back then we didn't have multiple pages of a thread. It was all on one page. And some posters had Internet connections that couldn't handle loading threads that were too long. So we closed the threads at 100 posts to make it easier for them.

Sometimes a poster would start a Part II thread. One time, one topic went all the way up to Part IV.

Confession Time because it's now several years after the fact: Sometimes when I closed threads at 100 posts, there were certain topics where I secretly hoped the posters would be too lazy to start up another thread about it.

TNZ didn't follow those types of rules, though. So, in 2000, there was a thread in there called The Masturbation Thread. It's infamous. It went on forever. And now I think this canon thread has turned into a watered down (extremely watered down) version of that. In my opinion.

I think that can be expected of any hot topic - masturbation or canon! I'm sure Tuvix and other topics that the fandom is deeply divided over also have the potential for endless superthreads XD

I don't talk about Tuvix. I have a minority opinion on that subject, so the onus is on me. Even I have my limits.

Seems completely logical to me. Given the numerous benefits to both physical and mental health sexual intercourse is known to provide, it is only logical to engage in the activity as often as convenient. The Vulcan philosophy of repressing emotions would perhaps mean they could engage in loveless sex with anyone, even one they are not married to without consequence. Saving intercourse with their actual spouse for the seven year event.

Shit, this is beginning to sound like a perfect society.

There is no canonical evidence that Vulcans do not have sex outside of pon farr,; we have literally seen Vulcans express sexual attraction outside of pon farr; we have literally seen Vulcans have sex outside of pon farr; and we have the word of key creators of Vulcan culture saying that Vulcans can have sex outside of pon farr. This is a ridiculous argument based on an unsustainable assertion that has no canonical basis and contradicts both actual canonical evidence and unambiguous authorial intent.

I’m interested if Strange New Worlds will eventually have a Spock/Leila Kalomi meetup.

So you think Amanda Grayson only had sex with Sarek once every seven years?
Well she did say the Vulcan way of life is hard, maybe she was asexual and the Vulcan culture suited her sexuality .
But it does not explain why T'Pol had sex with Trip
PICARD: Perrin. Amanda. I wanted to give you so much more. I wanted to show you such tenderness. But that is not our way. Spock, Amanda, did you know? Perrin, can you know how much I love you? I do love you!
A speech lots of real life human males could have made to their own mates/partners/spouses

Saavik managed it, T'Pol managed it (but I bet she was lying) and sex workers do it for a living.

Vulcans would make the ideal no strings attached sex partner in the Star Trek universe

That hormonal changes can cause erections and vaginal lubrication regardless of sexual arousal. It's just biology.
Post your references here, please

Their fitness studios are swinger clubs! XD

Show the canonical evidence that they do have sex outside pon farr.
Are the quotes I keep referring to non-canonical and which canonical evidence do these canonical quotes contradict?
