I'm reminded of the Yes, Minister episode where Hacker has to sign zillions of Christmas cards for various party members and other assorted characters. He gets given many separate piles of cards, and his Civil Service PPS explains:
"They're all clearly labelled. These you sign Jim. These you sign Jim Hacker. These, Jim & Annie. These are Annie and Jim Hacker. These, love from Annie and Jim. These, Mrs Hacker should write, and you should append your name. Those are printed. And those have cyclostyled signatures so you needn't write anything. Just check to whom they're being sent to make sure they're not going to people whom you should have sent a personally-signed card."
He starts signing and notices some are government departmental cards, and some are House of Commons cards. "Departmental cards bestow a slightly higher status than mere House of Commons cards, Minister." "Aren't people going to be offended at getting just HoC cards?" "No Minister, we've worked it all out carefully. For some people you can get away with a House of Commons card if you sign it Jim instead of Jim Hacker, or Jim & Annie instead of Jim & Annie Hacker, or add "with love", or sign it instead of cyclostyling, or...."
