SNW truly respects TOS continuity!

Each successive generation of Trek rebooted elements of the previous. Disco’s was extreme, yes. But it’s not a lot different from the TOS to TMP changeover. The future we saw in TOS was based off of a future extrapolated from 1966 just like TMPs was from 1979, like TNG was from 1987, like ENT was from 2001, like Trek 09 was from, well, 2009 just like Disco and each successive show was from 2017.

What has happened before will happen again.

I would think physical displays would be more dependable. Never understood the reason behind displays that float In the air.
And physical buttons are more dependable then entire touchscreen interfaces; yet TNG controls were 99.99% full touchscreens.

It's all fake, so it doesn't really matter. And someone will come along 20 years from now and make a new show which will look nothing like this show and claim it's in the same universe too. And people will slavishly accept it because the 'studio' says so.
And this is problem how?

Dead at 70?? You will be nostalgic for 2020's trek by 70 and than by 90 you will be nostalgic for both 2020's and 2040's trek. By 2060's...ok you will definitely be dead...:D

Yup, and yet holograms are the future. Marvel uses them to great effect.

TNG used touchscreens within hardware. Disco.and SNW....holographic displays...

TNG still used touch displays. In 1987, this was very much future tech for the masses. Now they are quite commonplace. Most of us carry around a touch display in our pockets.
Regardless, they still can fail. The point that @Noname Given and I were trying to make was that a physical control is more reliable than a touchscreen.

At the same time, holographic displays could be commonplace in 25 years. Just like the touchscreen is now.

and SNW....holographic displays...
Where has SNW used holographic displays on a Federation ship?
Even Discovery has toned down their use, which is weird considering it's 32nd Century.

TNG used touchscreens within hardware.
TNG used some intangible holographic displays in Season 1, in the captain's ready room. They stopped because of cost IIRC.
