I'm waiting for the finale to be called "To Boldly Go"If you stretch it a little you can also include "Where No One Has Gone Before" (from Picard's version of the monologue) and if "Strange New World" counts then so does "Civilization" surely.

Season premiere. Captain Christopher Pike comes out of self-imposed exile to rescue an officer gone missing during a secret mission.
So revisiting the Cage roots.Captain Pike suffering from depression/pre-traumatic stress disorder confirmed.
I agree! You're talking about someone who's a highly-decorated Starfleet Captain, peak physical and mental condition see an unavoidable future that has him confined to a wheelchair, complete vegetative state. So revisiting the Cage roots.
Cool.
It also highlights how Pike is very much an introspective man. That is consistent across his portrayals. He is a leader, yes, but within himself each decision is weighed against what his own moral compass and values as a man. He and Kirk share that similarity as reflected in "Balance of Terror" and "Conscience of the King," among others, where Kirk weighs his decisions and judgements including the possibility of him being in error.I agree! He did all he could to finish the mission against Control, have the shakedown of the repaired Enterprise and get back home to breathe and absorb what he saw.
And actually, I like it. Having the mental breakdown and weigh your emotional overload in the middle of the critical situation isn't quite the way to handle things if you're a professional (I'm looking at you, Discovery)
And in the clip shown during the Pike intro trailer, I like how he discusses it with Spock, with Spock mentioning something he's pointed out over all his iterations through all of Star Trek, that having that fear is the drive that gives you the courage to continue and keep pushing forward.

It'll definitely be a nice change of pace to stream a live action episodic drama (not just Star Trek, but in general).
Ironically Orville will be around the same time. For all the DIS/Orville comparisons, SNW will probably be far more similar.
Sad but true. However, it will be interesting to see with Orville on its last season how that will impact the viewership.Ironically Orville will be around the same time. For all the DIS/Orville comparisons, SNW will probably be far more similar.
I doubt we're gonna get real viewing numbers for either show since they're both streaming exclusives.Sad but true. However, it will be interesting to see with Orville on its last season how that will impact the viewership.
I don't mean viewer numbers as I don't care about those. I more mean with Trek fans who were done with serialized Trek and prefer the episodic style.I doubt we're gonna get real viewing numbers for either show since they're both streaming exclusives.
Yeah, really. Maybe we can get through one season of Trek without the goddamn Directive being invoked and debated?
ooh boy. these all sounds really good.
Strange New Worlds is the fourth (fifth if you wanna count Enterprise's Strange New World (No s)) title to take its name from the Opening Monologue of TOS.
The First was TOS "Where No Man Has Gone Before" The Fifth movie was "The Final Frontier", the third is Enterprise's "These are the Voyages".
Typical generic writing style"self-imposed exile"
