Snow days irritate me, anyone else?

I LOVE snow days! The more snow the better. The world seems to slow down and every now and then that's a good thing. Besides, I love to ski.

I'm annoyed that other places get "snow days". I've had to schlep to work in the worst conditions imaginable. One night last year, I got on the bus on the way home. It went about half a block and got stuck on a patch of ice. The driver kicked us all off and we had to walk back to the stop to wait for the next bus. It was so bad I couldn't tell if I was on the sidewalk or the road.

I've been scoffing at my LJ and Facebook friends who are going on about all the snow they've gotten. Ha, I say!

(I did throw a virtual snowball at my bf, though. Good thing I bought him a toque last month when he said snow was being forecast just before my trip down to see him.)

Speaking as a professional drone, snow days are kind of annoying, especially if I can't get to work and, when I do get to work, I'm late and other colleagues aren't threre either. But as much as I grumble, I still put up with it rather well.

Well, to be fair, if you had an official Snow Day, your place of work would be closed and you wouldn't have had to go in at all.

Just because it snows doesn't mean you had a Snow Day.

Not I, man. I'm from Michigan. Snow days are a way of life. Actually, a snow fall that will shut down lesser states is usually one we're happy to drive through doing 60 mph. It all depends on what you're used to. I always saw them as a relief and a break from the grind of daily life. I give thanks to the Snow Demons when they see fit to bestow such a blessing upon me.

I was kind of stunned myself. Especially when traffic seemed to be moving relatively fine by 9:00 (when i woked up).

I was not! Mostly because I never bothered to do my homework.

Having a ton of snow and things not being canceled bugs me more. Yes, we pay for classes. But they're not worth dying over. I don't know about Boston, but here, at least half the people drive like morons in the snow.

Today, we've had a good 3" of freezing rain. So some people are pulling half off the roads for no reason, a couple of trucks tried to run me over, the vehicles slide when I avoided someone who was trying their best to drive over the top of me, I was accosted by strikers... on and on...

Yes, I like to get what I pay for, but I'm not averse to staying home for a good reason... and once in a while- it's nice to have a break. Tho it sucks that yours is 4 weeks...
I'm paying 50$/day so missing one without a make-up day isn't an option... :S

Yeah, I agree. A few years back we got 3 feet of snow in 2 days and they canceled because of that. Makes perfect sense to me. That's a TON of snow. But 8" just didn't seem like that much to me.
