I recently started watching a new drama called "Trust Me." It's about advertising professionals (sort of a low-quality Mad Men).
Here's my problem with the show: it's supposed to be about people who are smart and great at their jobs...except these supposedly "smart" characters have demonstrated very low intelligence and nothing resembling real talent. It would be one thing if the writers intended the low intelligence/talent, but it's as if the writers actually expect us to be impressed by these people.
It's a shame, though. The main characters are played by some very charismatic actors. It's too bad they're given such garbage to work from...
Has anybody else been watching this show? Feel free to give your own examples of "smart/talented" characters who really aren't as smart or talented as the writers like to think...
