No Allison Mack for season ten? bah.

Same here, that sort of dampens my enthusiasm for a tenth season. Of course, that could always change. I wonder if Allison herself doesn't wish to return for a final season, or if the showrunners and the folks at CW want her out for some reason. Considering her fanbase is fairly solid, I think they'd do whatever they could to hold onto her.

Just my .02 worth.

Are there rumors to the effect?

Or even, how sure are we there's even going to be a season ten?

What would you rather have. Allison Mack in the 10th season? Or Clark FINALLY turning into Superman and doing Superman stuff...In Costume?
I'd rather have Superman...

I want both. And let's face it, IF, and that's a big if, Clark does finally become Supes, it's going to be in the final moments of the very final episode of the series. Not before, I can almost guaren-damn-tee it.

They need to get him flying first, anyway, before he dons the tights and cape, IMO.

For real he should have been flying during season 4...Kal can but Clark can't??? So lame.

If he doesn't put the \S/uit on at the end of this season...then it will be a waist. If there is a season 10...it needs to be about Superman. IMHO.

Nah, Procutus is right. It's not going to happen until the final shot of the final episode. This is SMALLVILLE, not SUPERMAN: THE TV SERIES. It never has been and never will be. That's not the idea.

I'm just hoping it gets another season so we can see SMALLVILLE-ized versions of other obscure DC heroes.

I liked this episode. It's the first time that I enjoyed Major Zod's scenes for the most part. And I liked Dark Clark. I missed the first part of the episode, and when I saw Chloe's light up and she became overprotective of Clark I began to wonder if she had been possessed by Brainiac or the Eradicator. Oh well, Eradicator could always be a Season 10 villian, though I hope they bring in Darkseid.

I'm glad Clark finally just took out that tower. I didn't get why everyone was just wringing their hands knowing what Zod was up to. Heck, he was even bragging about it and of course giving them a countdown to when the Kandorians got their power back. Seems like Tess or Clark would've taken out that tower weeks ago. And now that Tess is active again in Checkmate, why not just have them take out or round up Zod and his crew while they are still as weak as humans? I don't get why Tess is allowing this guy to just hang around. But it's good that someone, and to some surprise Clark, finally took some action to prevent Zod from becoming a major threat. Now, that action might backfire but at least he made the attempt.

Thanks, Greg! And I agree with you, I want to see more obscure folks from the DCU show up in Season 10 (love to see Vandal Savage back one more time).

The writing for Tess has been wildly inconsistant. She was supposed to replace Lex as the series' "big bad" but, I dunno, it's hard to take that when she's yet to do anything truly all that evil and they go and cover her in bubbles and short skirts.

Yeah, the entire Lex storyline has been completely trashed and then forgotten. They've never known what to do with Tess. Kind of like Ali Larter's various characters on Heroes. Except Tess is much better.

I disagree about never showing superman untill the last 5 minutes of the final episode. The show can be whatever it wants. Just because you put it in a box that says clark's teen adventures only doesn't mean a thing.

We've been watching Lois and Clark the next generation for a couple seasons now. It's all metropolis and daily planet and I'm pretty sure Clark didn't even finish college, so the schoolboy stuff is long gone.

They can do whatever they want. Smallville is what his girlfriend calls him. They can do that till she's 80.

Thay can be done too. All I'm saying they got him wearing the \S/ and after meeting other costume Superheroes...the Matrix look is past it's time. I remember season six was "the rise of Lex Luthor" season 10 should be "the rise of Superman".

Honestly, we don't even know if the CW has the rights to use the suit or the name "SUPERMAN (TM)." Chances are, Warner Bros. wants to save that for the movies.

I like my evil women covered in bubbles and short skirts.

Seriously though, I will agree that the writing for Tess has kinda been all over the place. One minute she claims she's Clark's ally, the next she's with Big Bad Zod.

And I have a gut feeling that Greg is right on target about the CW not being legally allowed to use the 'S' - Word.

That's just a guess on my part, but they do seem to go out of their way to avoid using it . . . .

As for Tess, I suspect she's supposed to be morally ambiguous, but, alas, her motives more often come off as muddled and inconsistent.

Well a new Superman movie is in the works now...finally and there hasn't been any official news on a season 10 of Smallville...

Do you see where I am going?

I'd say the fate of Smallville depends on three things.

1 - How the current crop of The CW pilots flesh out;

2 - How expensive a season ten will be;

3 - And how many members of the cast can be signed up for a tenth season.

Shows often price themselves out of existance due to rising cost and reducing budgets. The longer you work for a show, the more you expect to earn, not just the performers, but the behind the camera crew.

If one of their new genre pilots tests well, Smallville will be out, simply because the new show would be cheaper to produce.

Personally, I expect to see Vampire Diaries teamed up with new show Betwixt, while Supernatural moves to Fridays.

I don't get all the legal stuff, or potential legal stuff that might be preventing Smallville from using Superman's name. It's not like audiences are so dumb that they would confuse Smallville Superman with a silver screen Superman. Why couldn't we have both?

Well they are using the actually \S/ now...before it was \8/ and I remember coz of SR alot of stuff was off the table but recently they have been allowed to do...a new movie could get in the way of Superman being used in season 10...why??? I don't see what it would hurt.

Vendikarr I see this being true, however...they could put Smallville & SuperNATURAL together on Fri.

I think the idea is that why would you pay $10 to see Superman, in all his glory, on the big screen when you can see him for free on SMALLVILLE?

And how big a deal would a new SUPERMAN movie seem if he's on tv every Friday night anyway?

I'm not saying it's a good theory, but I believe that's the conventional wisdom.

Plus, of course, legal stuff doesn't have to make sense. It just has to be legal. If the CW doesn't have the rights to use the suit or the name or whatever, they don't have the rights, period.
