Spoiler alert for the sometime in the season:

He actually owes Oliver his death.
It's from the TWoP recaper of Smallville. He calls Jor-El "Jarnell" because of the way the name is said by the voice-actor. He kind of slurs it into "Jarnell."
I do to. It's more "Lois looking."
Remember that Clark is "friends" with Perry White who once told Clark he could pull strings at the DP to get Clark a job so maybe he went that route.
Actually a pretty good episode and I like what it is setting up. I hope it lives up to it. It shows promise.

Is it me or was Lois' hair a shade darker? She looked stunning as ever though. The flirtation between her and the boyscout has started well. Should be a cool season.
Yeah it looks like she dyed it. I like it too, gave her a much more Lois look.
I'd forgotten about that, that makes as much sense as anything.
I agree, good opening ep and a lot of good set-up for things to come.
Lex's absence definitely has left a major void. He was the opposing force for everyone on the show and I don't think they'll be able to replace that. Clark and Chloe are the only pair of original characters left and the adult characters are all gone. So it's up to the younger group.
That being said, there was some good and promising stuff here. Oliver now being a part of the regular cast. Chloe's new powers. Lois's great legs. The Oliver/Clark fight. Oliver shooting Clark through the chest with an arrow was pretty cool. Very good to see a pro-active Clark but knowing the show, he'll regress two steps next week. Clark and Lois's interaction was quite good as well.
BTW, when Phil Morris showed up, was anyone expecting him to ask Clark...

I don't know why her character and Clark don't hook up. She is way better looking the Kristen Kreuk.

With the new creative staff I hope not, the impression I got (and I didn't 100% follow the pre-season spoiler thread) was that the new PTB are going to try and move things forward and in step with Superman. Between Clark giving up the farm and working at the DP, joining the Justice League and I'd say even Lois' new do that they're headed in that direction.
The show also has a different look and tone to it too, it felt to me.
Again, I think it shows a lot of promise.
Absolutely. If this season is going to be the biggest train-wreck in TV history, as some think, I intend to be along for the whole ride.
It's good to have fresh, new Smallville again.
I voted "Above Average" -which is "Above Average" for Smallville which is pretty darn good.
