could it b that they are going 2 include pike as captain. after all he did get seriously injured. if kirk takes over it would explain alot. spock was the science officer, not first officer in the TOS the cage was he not? if he and kirk have the same rank it would come down to a straight choice and spock always seemed to be in starfleet for the chance to explore,not command.

Kirk is not wearing an Enterprise uniform. He is also not wearing a cadet's uniform.

Captain Pike assigns Kirk as acting first officer of the ship, and Spock as acting captain. Spock is gone at this point. Therefore, Kirk is acting captain.

It's not really complicated.

Saw that over in the TOS forum. I don't think it's quite as good as the one he did for the November trailer, but still a nice job.
