You do need some sunlight.

I read about some retired women who only went outside infrequently and then lathered up with sun screen started to get things like rickets due to Vitamin D deficiency.
Unless is another urban legend.

Only 10 minutes of day in the late afternoon is sufficient.

Regardless of whether the sun gives you cancer or not, it definitely turns you into a ridiculous looking wrinkly old leather flesh bag, which is reason enough not to expose yourself to it unnecessarily.

Wasn't harshing on scientists.... actually was harshing on people who take a single study and extrapolate that an entire industry is out to lie, deceive, and cause cancer.

But we can get that a lot take for example something like 99% of climate scientis say man is having an impact on the climate, yet some people will hold to the one that says we are not.

Now could the 99% be wrong, sure they could, but the same goes for the 1% they could be wrong. But in a risk/benefit analysis if the 99% are wrong and we've taken steps to reduce emissions etc.. what have we lost? But if we do nothing and the 1% are wrong then were will we be. For some of us it might not be an issue as we might be dead but for our Children won't they be asking you knew this was happe ning yet you did nothing?

Then there was the one Dr. that said the MMR jab caused autism despite most saying it didn't it's taken years to undo most of the damage caused by that one Dr.
