Skeet Ulrich leaves Law and Order: La, replaced by...

Instant Hit! :D

But seriously... I direct you to proof of the direness of NBC:

Law & Order Trial By Jury (2005-2006) averaged 12.2 million viewers and was cancelled. How the mighty have fallen.

Good call, Skeet's frozen-faced, eternally baffled acting style is a much better fit for sci fi, where he can be frozen-faced and eternally baffled about some unimaginable horror going on around him, versus regular old crime in LA, where blase reactions and wisecracks are more expected. I'm sure ole Skeet will land in some pilot or other for the upcoming season, and I hope he steers well clear of the real world, which he is ill suited for.

I am no fan of Skeet Ulrich by any means but if the numbers have been consistent-that's probably as good as they are going to get- why would the producers dump him? If they realized he was a joke during filming, why not scrap and change then? Are they realizing their whole hip vibe LA thing is a joke and they are trying to cover their tracks? NBC is stale, Wolf is stale, too. I watch Brit shows as well.

I swear some networks would get better ratings if they just showed Hunter, Hill Street Blues, The Equalizer, Spencer for Hire, and Simon and Simon again! Hell, I'm up for some Scarecrow and Mrs. King! Is there a Coptastic channel that I just don't get that shows all of these? I may upgrade to the Hulu Plus just so I can watch my stuff via the Roku rather than the computer. Ah, if only cable were ala carte!

They are making the change during filming. Ulrich's final episode will be in late February or early March.

And, no... it's not for the mindless masses. Just because it's about cops or lawyers or doctors doesn't mean it's lowest common denominator television.

CBS can show cop shows 24/7, but it won't make them any more interesting to me than they are now, Skeet or no Skeet. I did try out LOLA (first L&O show I ever sampled) just for the hell of it and after two episodes, I was done. I have no idea why people like shows like that, but I could say the same for NASCAR and baseball.

In L&O's case, I tend to watch it more for the characters than for the case-of-the-week; assuming that I'm representative of the audience, LOLA was probably not a good place to start, since it fails in that department. ;)

That is what I loved about Homicide Life on the Street. It was all about the characters. Some episodes a case would never even be brought up, and not everything was solved. I miss that show. And to think it was on for 7 years and nobody ever saw it. SVU forgets it is meant to be a spin off of both LO and LOTS. Once they backdoored Munch, I stopped watching.

I suppose only in the Law & Order universe would a detective become a lawyer and then revert back to a detective years later.

A cop working his way through law school and becoming a prosecutor isn't unheard of. Rejoining the force afterwards most definitely is unheard of.

NBC has postponed the return of Los Angeles to an undetermined date, possibly all the way into next season. Parenthood will continue to air in Los Angeles' new time slot of 10 / 9 Central.

I was looking forward to its return. NBC is made of giant fail.
