Is it just me or would the Ancient Lights have been totally FUBAR as soon as they tried to enter Sontaran Space?

Clyde is still playing the Clown, but the actor is becoming quite an attractive alpha male.

Pretty let down by Pt 2. I don't know if it was the bog standard plot or just the lack of any real sense of danger from a hammy actor in a white suit, but it just seemd pretty 'meh'. Actually it was the first SJA I FF'ed through. At least the epilogue was enjoyable.

* Part of it may have been dissapointment over it not having been the Mandragora helix. I have to say I REALLY hate when one of the new series creates a new alien menace thats basically just a copy of an old one. Just bring back the old aliens damnit!

*OTOH it may just be a case of the mid season blahs. I've found that even with DW I tend to get bored with the whole thing about a third of the way through the series. My enthusiasm usually picks back up about midway through though. So I'm going anywhere just yet.

They had the evil American lying reporter lady news caster... Why didn't she say "hey this is just like the time with that blood control by the Syccorats."

I think she's just lovely.

Yeah I keep wondering when the news is going to do a "Well its another week, and people are swarming into the streets under some strange mind control AGAIN." report.

Worst story so far - Russ Abbott started OK but got worse as the show went on, the Ancient Lights would be fucked as soon as they hit Sontaran/Dalek/Cybermen/damn near anyone else's dpace, and, worst of all, it was just too damn similar to the immediately prior story.

but I felt the second part of this, was better than the second part of The Day of the Clown, maybe because the whole of the planet was in danger, not just the kids from Lukes school.

good, but not as good as the rest of the season. Trueman was definitely on the verge of going OTT...

i knew Luke was the key as soon as Clyde came under Trueman's control.

and count me in as disappointed they didn't show Jon or Tom...

this is something the new series has always done, in "Rose" the guy only had pictures of the 9th Doctor, whilst Love & Monsters seemed to focus on the 10th Doctor, and IMO missed a chance to include a previous Doctor in a new series episode.

Human Nature got it right, with the book showing all of the previous Doctors faces however.

Are they allowed? Are their licensing issues? The audio people arn't allowed to go near the nuwho, and maybe the nuwho people are kept divided from the excessively classic who? Although the picture of the young Sarah Jane paper clipped to her UNIT dossier gave me quick jolt from the happy gland last year.

fair question, however all I really would have wanted in episodes like Rose or Love & Monsters, was drawing of previous Doctors, like in Human Nature/Family of Blood, also they were able to use the 5th Doctor for Time Crash (yeah I know it was for CiN but if there are legal issues, they would still have to be solved)

That said its going to be much easier for characters like previous Doctor's to appear, given that the BBC owns them (same for Sarah Jane)

If anything, I should think the massive difference in footage quality/type would rule out using clips from the old show.

I voted Average-- slightly better than Day of the Clown.
