Year later lets get this going again, post some of your favorite scaling photos and etc

Scaling Yardsticks
Let's face it: a ship side view marked in hundreds of meters is somewhat academic. To fix this, it helps to have a model, real or 3-D CG, a...weblog.st-v-sw.net
Why is it at 120 meters scale for the Defiant, parked next to the CVN Enterprise, it makes the 'Defiant-class' feel "Fat" / "Bloated"?While not as exciting as photos, there are numbers available:
Starship Volumetrics
On Twitter I've also sporadically been using the Starship Volumetrics Yardstick, an assemblage of potentially knowable-size things worldwide that then serve as basis of comparison for ships or bits thereof.
I'll toss up some shots here later, but for now here's an early article on the selection process and a quick link to one of the posts.

That first pic immediately brings to mind the 747 crashing thru the terminal windows in "Airplane!"Re: physical versus virtual, it's also nice to be able to make copies of a model, either for sharing or because you need more (rather than compositing several images):
It's such a pain how that set doesn't even come close to matching the shuttlebay exterior (never mind when it was used for cargo bays, where the doors on the outside are even weirder). I realize budgets are limited, and they probably felt like they had a lucky break inheriting that blast door from TWOK, but, still.
Yes, I thought about that yet again when I posted the shuttle nose cone. It's worse when you think about the fact that that door is vertical, whereas the hull in that area is very sloped. We can at least try to pretend double doors, but that's like a extra shuttlebay worth of floorspace we should see outside the door. It's such a pain how that set doesn't even come close to matching the shuttlebay exterior (never mind when it was used for cargo bays, where the doors on the outside are even weirder). Well, now we know what the swing wings were really for.The F-14 versus the Voyager shuttlebay door:
