Situations where you could quote deep space nine

Can't believe this one hasn't turned up yet.

When the soda dispensers at a restaurant are busted, and the drink you ordered (preferably root beer) isn't carbonated.

"It's vile!"

5. When someone gives you something fake.

"Its a faaake"

I seriously wanted to do this to somebody once, who brought me a driver's license sans hologram and thought I was going to notarize their stuff with that--I couldn't get it out of my head!

When your kid screws up - "You have the right to remain silent, but doing so may be inferred as an indication of your guilt."

You know...in parent-child situations, there's a LOT of truth in that. ;)

There's a quote I've been trying to track down by Sisko that I've wanted to use in a LOT of situations, but I never seem to find the exact wording. Maybe somebody here could help?

Basically what he says is that nine times out of ten, the right thing to do is the hardest one. What was the exact wording and what episode did it come from?

I used one on my father the other day, paraphrasing Sisko.

He was complaining about never thinking about things before he did them, so I replied.

"You're a Dad, sometimes you don't think, you just DO"

He got the line straight away and groaned.

When you go to get your photo taken and the photographer is telling you to smile you could say under clenched teeth "I'm smiling" Gul Dukat style.

Reading this thread has made me realize I quote the Jem'Hadar an unhealthy amount and must work on it...

Even the tone in which I'll say "Enough!!" Thats sad! :O

I'll edit my post when I remember what I was going to say... I don't know why I'm so tired! ... just got up... argh!

What episode was that?

And on the subject of my own Cardassianisms...I had one recently where I was having a discussion with someone and I was explaining why I think if you reform the school system, you can then avoid a lot of other expensive entitlement programs in the future. And out comes this jewel (which for obvious reasons I left half finished):

"Education is POWER!"

(The other half is "Joy is vulnerability," but of course I wasn't about to say THAT. Though I do think some of these kids need to spend a lot less time goofing off and a lot more time hitting the books... ;) )

I'm still trying to track down a quote that I'm pretty sure I saw on DS9 that I would LOVE to get a definitive version of. Sisko would've been the one to say it: it went something like, "nine times out of ten, the harder thing to do is the right one." Anyone have the real quote, and can say what episode it comes from????

It was 6x04- Behind the Lines- the one with the awesome Jem'Hadar/Cardie fight in Quarks...

I'm not so sure about that. I just checked the script and I didn't see anything that looked right--unless you have the exact quote.

I keep thinking it's in one of the first three seasons...

OK, the "I'm smiling" bit, yeah...

I misinterpreted...I'd thought you found my "nine times out of ten" quote. Anybody have any luck with that one?

I quoted Sisko's final lines in "In the Pale Moonlight' in a story for my creative writing class in High School. The English Teacher sent my name in to the school psychiatrist....

True Story.

Sorry NG, I looked for your quote, and variations, the only thing I could find was that 9 times out of 10 cynics are wrong, and it doesn't say who said it.

Thats horrible, nx1701g! Kinda glad one of my teachers was a Trekkie, so that didn't happen. :)

^ It's ok. The school psychiatrist was a Trekkie and she gave me a pass (when I explained that I hadn't had time to do the assignment because of college prep tests - my SATs were the next morning).

^ Right on! Phew! :)

There are a few words/phrases I tend to use (sometimes pretending to be menacing lol) that come from sci-fi and ST, especially- I have noticed: "Be that as it may, I did!"

10. On payday and your getting your wage from the founders of the company

"May you receive this reward from the founders may it keep you strong".

If that ever happened in real life i'd instantly die in a burst of laughter and go to Trek heaven! :guffaw::guffaw:

Any boss that cool would be worth every crap i'd take from the job!
