Sisko "dreaming" about Benny the author.

Why build a culture based in capitalism and greed if you're going to turn around and demolish it?
To show that change is possible. Star Trek is about hope.

If the Benny parts were real, and DS9 isn't, then why did I invest so much into DS9?
Or maybe Benny was an ancestor of Sisko's, or he's from a different universe/timeline and the prophets were connecting the two of them. His story ideas were just his subconscious seeing the future.

There are ways to make both real.

But they didn't see the need to make Klingons pacifists, Romulans forthright, Bajorans skeptic, or Vulcans emotional.

With a few tweaks in dialogue, they could have advanced female rights on Ferenginar (which was inevitable, given the social mores of the time) and had it actually make sense. They didn't have to turn it into Federation 2.0...

I think you need to rewatch the Ferengi episodes, because that didn't happen at all.

Lower Decks even followed up on Fereginar, and they're still a capitalist society. Including Rom.

There have been stories written by people who predicted what come in the future and were proven to be prescient. I am watching "Past Tense" and it feels like, to me, that I am watching in our real world the beginnings of the Sanctuary Districts. The first rule we learned about is that sleeping on the streets is illegal. Well, Florida just made that a law.

Where I live, the services for the homeless are among the best in the country. Problem is, while some people are genuinely trying to fix their lives, others ate just feeding their addictions. Society can't help those who refuse to help themselves.

And as we continue to decriminalize hard drugs, it's going to get worse.

So, Sisko dreams that he's Benny, a writer who creates the character of Ben Sisko, or something like that...

Honestly, I thought Benny's connection to DS9 was via some kind of parallel universe/quantum entanglement thing, or maybe I just watched way too much of that show Fringe?

Either way, I found Far Beyond the Star brilliant and I liked that he reappeared in season 7.
