Since when does the Federation act like war criminals and Nazis?

What's in next weeks episode? The Federation starts throwing neutron bombs on civilian targets cause the laws of war don't apply in space, and they want to put the fear of God in them Klingons? Perhaps Lt. Burnham gets the bright idea to load a transporter with explosives, and fly it into a civilian convoy?
Well, they are apparently using prisoners as forced labor and Guinea-pigs.

Been a while since I saw that episode, remind me?
If I may jump in. Its when she found out the equinox was killing aliens for the faster warp drive. I don't remember the specific reason for his interrogation but it was a medical officer off equinox. Locked him in a room and disabled the security systems so the aliens could come in

I'm assuming you're being sarcastic since it's clearly a tom Paris situation and kirsten Beyer is in the writters room. She does the wonderful voyager relaunch novels and has done great things with the Paris character.

Off the top if my head, she traps him in a room and drops the shielding, leaving him exposed to attack from aliens unless he reveals Equinox's location.

It only ends when Chakotay intervenes, and Janeway gives him the iciest cold shoulder ever.

Wonderful?

She lobotomized the Doctor and made everyone go along with it.

Context is everything.

There is a big distinction between event's like what Sisko, what janeway did and what the others did.

In depiction, Janeway, and Sisko, are not depicted as being righteous for their actions. Janeway and Sisko are both shown to be way off their norm and acting in extreme manners.

Same for Archer during "Damage." Dude is pushed so far passed his breaking point and he's doing things out of absolute desperation to save the entire human race. That's what the not-so-subtle title of that episode is actually referring to. Not how blasted up the NX-01 is, but how badly the people on board are hurt by the events.

As to Picard and the virus, I know a great many people who think he was straight up wrong. Frankly, the entire episode is based on a false assumption anyway. Hugh is an anomaly in The Borg, not the norm. It's not prejudice to look at a Borg cube and go "Borg = Evil." Because they are. They're a cold, calculating machine that will rip you from your bed and turn you into them. There's no talk. There's no mercy. There's no distinction between civilian and military beyond use to the collective. Virus them til there are no borg left. This isn't about saving some vast and ancient culture, this is space cancer.

Still, as much as it's easy to play quarterback in a life or death situation... Laying an ambush when you're dealing with an enemy that doesn't fight "fair" is... Always a mixed bag, but sometimes you have to do, what you have to do.

Kirk surrendered as a trick to lure the Klingons onto the Enterprise and self destruct to kill them.

Picard was planning to wipe out The Borg with a virus, not a bomb, but the same thing.

Sisko made a planet uninhabitable for decades to make a point to Eddington.

Starfleet regularly bend and break their own rules.

This post reminded me of one of the best ever lines in STar Trek. When Admiral Necheyev is chewing out Picard years later I think it was in "descent" for deciding to ultimately not infect them with the virus that would have ended them once and for all and tells him "Your job is to safeguard the lives of federation citizens, not to wrestle with your conscience".

Wel said Admiral.

And the time Kirk's subordinates filled a Klingon ship with tribbles

During WW2 the Allies also bombed the shit out of civilian targets for no other reason than they were under german control. Nobody is a good guy in war.

Something similar happened on Star Wars Rebels.

The rebel characters reprogrammed a probe droid to self-destruct upon returning to a Star Destroyer loading bay. A lot of people died. It did have a bit of a terroristic vibe to it, but shit happens in war.

This was an ongoing and active battle, in Which the Klingons had already broke a truce to kill the commanding officer. This was not booby trapping bodies to be found later, this was attacking a foe in an unexpected way on an active battlefield.

They referenced Sun Tzu just prior to that.........if you are not familiar with him or his teachings I suggest you google and educate yourself a bit today. I especially love the story of him and the two concubines.

I read the art of war many, many, many years ago. I need to read it again. There is a reason people still study it,
