The Simpsons once had the 4th Doctor appear as a representative of television and again in a halloween episode.

Wow, that's really cool especially considering how obscure that reference is, i.e. a line from a trailer to an episode that hasn't even aired and the trailer most likely hasn't aired on any US channel. At least with the two Fourth Doctor appearances, he was (at least at the time) was the most recognizable face of Doctor Who largely through PBS (in the US, of course).

It sounds like you're talking about "Waters of Mars", but that's not where we first hear that line. The Doctor is only repeating what he was told at the end of the previous story (which already aired). I thought you saw "Planet of the Dead".

Yeah, you're absolutely right. I only saw "Planet of the Dead" once and I wasn't impressed by it, so it's not surprising that I forgot that line was in there.

Still, it's fairly obscure in comparison to the appearance of The Doctor, the TARDIS, or sonic screwdriver.
