Simon Pegg Calls Out 'Star Wars' For Having Most 'Toxic' Fandom—While Praising 'Star Trek' Fans

Why I like BoBF is because it made him more than a cipher. He became a person with a difficult history, a damaged sense of purpose and finding new purpose. The show may not be for everyone but I love it, and actually like Fett now. I used to hate him.

Although I didn't love "BoBF", I did like it (aside from those two "Mandalorian" episodes). But what I really liked about the series was Boba's development from a mere bounty hunter to (and I can't believe I'm saying this) a major criminal who surprisingly proved to be a decent civic leader and plenty of character development. I never understood the appeal of Boba Fett in the past. I had only found him slightly interesting as a kid in "The Clone Wars". But I liked him in Season Two of "The Mandalorian" and I really liked him in "The Book of Baba Fett".

Yeah. Rogue One wasn’t that great.

Certainly a story that did not need to be explored as a film, since its most important plot element was explained in a couple of lines in Star Wars' opening crawl back in '77, and next to no one thought they needed to learn more about those "rebel spies" or their mission.

It's honestly the place I would start with an updating of Star Wars is actually beginning with that attack by the Rebels, and showing that struggle. I know Dark Forces had Operation Skyhook (Legends) and Rogue One told it but I personally wouldn't mind a different approach.

And yet it's been explored dozens of different times since ANH released.

It's a popular story.

The OT had no problem moving along to tell the important story without exploring the irrelevant non-plot about spies stealing the Death Star plans.

Because it wasn't important to the main story of ANH.

Rogue One was a spin off. It just added context.

Yeah, context that was not at all necessary. Not a single thing about stealing the DS plans (including the R1 characters) was relevant to the larger SW story, because in the end, the Rebellion--using the plans--still would have failed if not for the point of SW, which is the Force-connected "man of destiny" taking the stage of history. That's the story.

Well, most stories move past the irrelevant parts to their story. That's what makes them irrelevant.

However, it leads to the speculation as to what the spies did. No, it doesn't need a movie, but for my part, the opening crawl indicates a far more interesting story happened prior to the story of ANH so it was something I'd prefer to see.

And still don't think Rogue One did a great job with it.
