Sigourney Weaver as Captain Janeway?

Have you seen her lately?

Poor thing looks like a female Keith Richards.
Ya! I was about to say THAT exact same thing before I read this post, And besides didnt she have some sort of mental problums during the 90's( she still does I belive) or something:confused: I seriosly dought the suits at UPN would risk haveing a lead actor haveing a meltdown or something to that effect.

Linda Hamilton is bipolar.
That's what happens when you keeping telling people you see killer cyborgs from the future.

Yes, it was a joke but I do understand such disorders. My good friend and member of this board suffers from such a condition. I have friends and family suffering from everything from this to cancer to Alztimers.

Sorry if my joke offended you but if I don't find something to laugh about in it, I'll cry and I can't stand doing that.

No! I am sorry,I shulden't have snaped at you like I did. It's just this is to me a very personal thing that's all! I will confess me and my mom ( who is a M.D.) will joke around about this sometimes, you know when things just get a little to tense! Once again exodus I am VERY sorry for snaping like that I hope we can put this behind us?

Although it's hard to imagine anyone but Kate as Janeway, if any of you have see 'The Ice Storm' or 'Imaginary Heroes' you know she has the range to pull it off. I think she'd have been great, based on those performances. I really wonder how difficult it would have been to talk her into it? (Apparently she didn't want to do another 'Aliens' movie because it was to be set on Earth.)

Just seen the clip of Bujold on youtube the person who posted the clip put the specal effects in and cleaned up the sound but made no difference can't beleive they got it so wrong if she had stayed i think it would have been canned by the end of the season.
*shudder* she was just awful. I am so glad that she turned tail and ran. Kate was fabulous as KJ

Don't even worry about it.

Ain't no thing but a chicken wing.

 I mean more gentle-spoken. I like her accent, she could have become a Delenn-type character (Babylon 5 is you didn't already know who I meant), however I'm not sure if she would have had the strength of personality to make an effective Captain, especially in the situation Voyager was in.

She could have been good in a non-captain role, though.

I agree. Bujold's a very good actress in everything else I've seen her in. 'House of Yes' comes to mind. I think she was rather uncomfortable with the Janeway role from the start.

Thinking back on how Picard spent the first season going on about how much France ruled, I wonder if they would have had Nicole Janeway going on about "France" or "Canada"?

With all due respect to Sigourney Weaver, who seriously rocks... I think that for better or worse, Kate Mulgrew owned the role of Katherine Janeway from day one. She took that character and made her flesh and spirit and I think that we as Voyager fans were extremely lucky to have her. I think Janeway would have been a lesser character in anyone else's hands. Kate Mulgrew's performances are always watchable. Even when I was unhappy with the way something was written, I couldn't take my eyes off her. And when the character was written well, with Kate in the role, there was no possible way to improve on her perfection.

That's my opinion. :)

so if weaver had been janeway, who would've been the male in a relationship b/t janeway and chakotay?? ;)

i'm only kidding all J/C'ers out there. :D

completely agree!! while there are a couple of actors who could've been interchangeable in their roles i've always thought that mulgrew, dawson, mcneill, and picardo completely owned their roles. i really do have a hard time seeing other actors in their roles (just as i will with the TOS crew in the new trek movie).

I would also agree about the others being cemented in their roles to a point, though I found that Kate was somehow able to spin gold from straw...while the others were stuck with straw or gold, depending on what they were given. This may be based solely on some sort of latent crush on her; I don't know. lol. But suffice it to say, that even when I felt the writers faultered with Janeway (and I believe that they did), I never felt that Mulgrew let that stop her from giving it her all. :techman:

Though (and granted, this isn't the same thing at all) it still annoys me that when Duncan was cast as Paris that they didn't change the character to Lacarno (who was played by the same actor with an almost identicle character history), or that Vorik wasn't changed to Taurik when Alexander Enberg got the Voyager role - as they ARE identicle - at the very least they could have referenced that the 2 Vulcans were relatives or something. Those are the kinds of behind the scenes choices that hurt my head. :wtf: As it was, it took me years to get over the the Paris thing, and I never quite got over the Vorik thing. Paris was easier to justify (to myself) because the characters were at least slightly different. Vorik had no such explanation.

Sorry. I get to rambling and I get off track. It's one of my most annoying or endearing qualities depending on who you ask. lol :alienblush:
